The premium, full-featured Ruff Wear Big Eddy Float Coat for dogs is a top-of-the-line, technical choice that provides your furry friend the extra flotation needed for rough or fast moving water.

The Ruffwear Big Eddy Float Coat for Dogs is the ultimate in canine flotation and water safety. Ideal for active canines who frequent the water, it is designed for aggressive swimmers in rough or fast-moving water, day or night. The Big Eddy is Ruffwear's premium, fully featured canine lifejacket. One of the biggest advantages of a Ruff Wear Float Coat: strategically placed PVC-free buoyancy cells that support dogs in a natural horizontal swimming position, allowing them to go farther, longer, with less fatigue.

Rough water, fast water, just about any water - if you are wearing a PFD, the Ruffwear Big Eddy Float Coat™ is what your dog should be wearing.
Your pooch may have perfected the doggie paddle, but when he comes along in the raft or out into rough water, the Ruffwear Big Eddy Float Coat Dog Lifejacket will help keep your pal safe and sound. The Big Eddy features strategic buoyancy cells that support your dog’s natural swimming position, allowing him or her to swim to safety or just enjoy a cruise downstream. The tough ballstic nylon shell takes years worth of abuse, and reflective trim helps you keep a watchful eye. Ruffwear also added a low-profile top handle for lifting your dog out of the water.

My dog and I LOVE this product...
| Rating: | ![]() |
| My English Pointer is one harsh critic. When I first threw this life jacket on him at the campsite to get him used to it before going in the water, he wouldn't move he was so humiliated and downright angry at me for dressing him up. When we went swimming, he soon realized how much easier is was to chase his toy and swim around the boat that now he just gets so excited when he sees me pull the jacket out. I was worried that because of my dog's deep chest that it wouldn't fit right (i.e. that it'd be too big about the front and back and tight in the middle), but it fits him great and gives me infinite confidence to take him kayaking with me. In fact the last two times we were out on even an inflatable boat, he fell asleep he was so relaxed. The other benefit of the lightweight design is that instead of carrying the jacket down to the water and back, it's so easy to leave it on him and not have to worry that it's too heavy or hot. He doesn't seem to mind walking in it at all - and he looks so darn cute. | |

Git yer doggy paddle on!

'Woof!' said my girlfriend's black lab, Cody, when I asked him what he thought of this doggie lifejacket. Well, in all my years of speaking dog-ese, I can honestly say that he was right. With the heavy duty webbing material sewn into the design, Cody is more than confident swimming across Reudi Reservoir outside of Basalt or thrashing around in the Last-Chance Rapids on the Colorado River near Glenwood Springs. With a wag of his tail, he let me know just how much he likes the extra bit of flotation when he swims sidekick to my stand up paddle (SUP) board on the water. And with that useful handle on his back, I can hoist him right into the inflatable kayak and on my lap when my girlfriend wants a try at the SUP board. He's not a big dog, but at 60lbs, the medium size fit his athletic body just right.

Neck is tight | |

| My dog is a 45lb border lab mix. He takes a small in all Ruffwear gear ordered a small trunk still has 3-4 more inches play in adjustment but neck is tight. His neck is 16 and back length 19in. There is a patch together so they overlap then an additional cinch strap over that the extra material makes it very snug. Overall quality was outstanding. | |

Good flotation in the right places
| Rating: | ![]() |
| This vest puts the flotation in all the right places so that the dog's head is out of the water. There was some confusion about what size to buy because there wasn't a size chart for the Big Eddy, but once correctly sized, the vest offers freedom of movement, a handy grab loop, and great flotation. Recommended for any dog swimming in rivers or the ocean. | |

Big Eddy is great for most pups

| The Big Eddy is an excellent PFD, very very well made. My only complaint would be that the neck circumference opening should be bigger. My newfoundland girth fits perfect, but the neck was not as compatible. I exchanged the Big Eddy for the Portage model, which fits great. same great craftsmanship - a little more neck room. | |

Really nice flotation coat

| I have a doberman, 65-70lb, and bought a large. It fits good, a tad big in his tiny waist (but everything is), but great in chest and shoulders. This is a really nice coat that you can pick the dog up with the handle. It seems comfortable for him, and certainly helps him swim. | |

Performs well and looks good while doing it!

| I've tried other dog life jackets and never was able to find one that fits as well as the Big Eddy Float Coat. Not only does it fit well, it looks very sporty and stylish when on my Doberman. | |

great | |

| Even if it looks very very nice, the most important thing is the quality it has: super! very well made. the small size for our border collie was ok but he is not one the biggest border collies. | |

Too Bulky, Neck Too Small
| Rating: | ![]() |
| Not a good fit (L) for my 95 pound Chesapeake- the girth fit as indicated on size chart, but the neck was way too small-couldn't even get the velcro fastened- a real choker! Very disappointed, as I have the Web Master Harness by Ruff Wear (size L) and it fits great, (neck is cut alot lower). Also, this Big Eddy is really bulky/uncomfortable. My dog did not want it on. Maybe the Big Eddy works better for slender or small dogs (?) | |
