Salomon Men's Discovery GTX

I am writing this review after wearing a pair of these boots in almost every outdoor situation for nearly 3 years. I have put on about 200 miles of backpacking, and another couple hundred in hiking with no pack. I have narrow feet with high arches. These boots fit my feet perfectly. I have never had a blister or even a hotspot. Virtually no break-in time. The insoles are comfortable and I can go very long periods with no discomfort. The mid-soles of these boot are a bit on the soft side. More suited for hiking than carrying a load. If you are carrying a load and going over rocks, you will feel them on your feet. The boots are very light. I have done many creek crossings in them, and they have never leaked. These are the best hiking boots I have ever had. I'm on Zappos right now to upgrade to another pair of Salomons. The best advice about buying any boot is to find a brand that fits your foot well, and stick with it. If these fit your feet, you won't be disappointed in their quality.

Seems to be a great boot so far. I live in southern New Mexico, so my normal destinations are the Gila NF and the Lincoln NF. I had a problem with too much boot for those areas, and would normally end up in trail-type tennis shoes. I wanted a boot that offered more protection, support, and traction than tennis shoes, but not as much as a hard mountain boot. These fit the bill perfect. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars, was the lacing system and LONG laces. The top lace hooks are more difficult for some reason, but they still aren't bad. I do have a problem finding the happy medium between too tight at the ankle, and too loose, but I'm sure the more I wear them, the easier that will be. And the laces...they are very nice laces, but are long enough for a 9" boot. I know that's being picky, but for those being the only problems with the boots, I think that they are a great buy, and would reccommend them to anyone.

these shoes are very comfortable and took very little break in. as far as waterproof goes these are great. these are a little heavier than the vasque gtx and do not breath quite as well, but atleast they are sturdier, and waterproofing works as advertised. these are great for late summer through fall hiking.

minor issue: when walking on a loose mixed gravel road I can feel the stones through the sole. not in a painful way. this must be due to the flexible sole.

I wear this product to work and back. As a package Handler at FedEx Ground I am required to wear boots, and I prefer to be comfortable since I will be wearing the boots for 3-5 hours a day. These boots are just that comfortable, durable, the outside of the boots are water resistant, they are warm. You can't go wrong with them. You can buy any boots you want, but spend the extra money and these boots will treat you well.

Very pleased with the shoes, normally I will not buy anything without positive reviews. came in for other shoes but the shoe felt great in the store,added 1/2 size, I have narrow feet. Little to no break in. Very comfortable and supportive, no toe banging going downhill. Will buy again a Salomon boot. The Gore Tex waterproofing is holding up good so far, Very little wear from hiking moderate rocky PA, NJ trails. Odometer reading 3 month 350+ miles

Bought a pair of these last fall and love them. Excellent support great flexibility light weight! I've had much more expensive boots give me less. Oh and truly waterproof.

Had to send back two shoes of another brand as they had flaws. I was concerned that these might be too heavy, but that has not been a problem.

Very comfortable and can wear it all day without any fatigue.

Would recommend.
