I just purchased these to replace my old XA Pro 3D Ultra. I was so pleased with the fit and comfort of that pair (my first Salomon pair) that I just had to try Salomon again. And so far... it's right on the mark. This time, not only another good fit and comfort, but the very light and very breatheable. Another 2 thumbs up for Salomon - you guys rock.
Out of the box comfort and no break required. I wear them while on bicycle patrol in the winter and they have decent traction on the pedals and street. My feet are always warm and dry. I highly recommend these shoes.
The XA mid is near perfect for tactical purposes. It is comfortable, supportive and well- equipped for load bearing or backpacking. Fit is appropriately snug yet not restrictive. I tried the XA low and experience a high degree of heel slip.
A tad bit stiffer than the previous version due to a more robust sole. Better for the hiking, but slightly heavier for trail running. Overall, still way light, snug, supportive and comfortable.
The style, color, etc was perfect; HOWEVER it was the wrong size. We asked for a size 13 and received a size 10.5. Quite a disappointment at Christmas.
