Great Crossover Running Shoe for Road and Trail

While a novice at trail running, I am experienced at marathons (8 including Boston 2011). I used these to run the South Trail of Cadillac Mountain, Acadia National Park, as well as the six mile Camptown Race in Pennsylvania (yes, the Camptown of Stephen Foster fame). The race starts with a three mile flat road race, followed by a three mile muddy mess up and down hills. I now train for the Finger Lakes Fifties ultra with long runs that include both road and trail. Overall, I like the fit, sole protection, and versatility. The lacing system snugs to give a VERY secure feel and they offer much better traction than pure road shoes.

Awesome for running, gym workouts, and as approach shoes

These are the greatest multifunctional all around sport shoes. I have the women's version, and my boyfriend has the mens. We both love them. The shoe is breathable, I never feel overheated in them. They are also really grippy on trails and rocky terrain. They are so comfortable and light weight. And the colors are just plain cool. However, if you plan on wearing them at night or somewhere really cold, I suggest thick socks because they are super breathable which is awesome for activity, but not so awesome when hanging around a campsite at night or hiking out in the cold.

my new favorite trail shoe!

this shoe rocks! super secure fit and the sole is stiff enough to handle the big climbs but is still flexible enough so you don't feel like you are running with 2x4s under your feet. good rock protection, rarely do i get jabbed in the sole by a pesky rock with these guys. a must buy! it says these shoes will handle pavement, but i wouldn't recommend that.

The best trail shoe my feet have been in!

I've been running in these shoes for about 2 months and have probably put about 50 miles in them. They broke in nicely and the fit is very comfortable. I strictly use them for trails and would recommend them to anyone. The best trail shoe for me.

Neutral Reviews:

Like the wide toe box. But started to tear at flex-point after ~100 miles.

These guys feel light for how bulky they are and give good traction. They're all right on roads, too. The lacing system is nice, and they make good light hikers. My main issue is tdurability. After about 100 miles, the upper on these started to tear on both sides of each foot at the point where the shoe flexes as you push off. Like the wide toe box a lot, lets you get your toes etc into your stride. My next shoes will definitely have low to zero drop though--these things make you like 1.5" taller. That's personal preference. Oh yeah--they work well for my very neutral stride (I've been injured before running in slightly non-neutral shoes).
