The XT Wings 3 sits on the "pure trail shoe" end of the Salomon line. Its aggressive, directional tread and deep heel brakes make it one of the best choices for those who are running fast over soft ground, although it does not take to pavement as well as more neutral shoes like the XA Pro or XR Mission.
The midsole of the XT Wings features a medial post, which is a column of dense foam just under the inside arch of your foot. This post helps prevent your foot from rolling inward with each step, which is helpful for those with high arches or pronation problems. Not so much for those with flat feet or people who suponate when they run.
The outsole of the XT Wings features two different densities of Contagrip rubber, with Contragrip LT (light weight) across most of the sole and Contragrip HA (High Abrasion) for durability on the rearmost part of the heel and the inside of the forefoot.

Amazing shoes, used them for the first 460 miles of the AT (Springs to Damascus) and have zero complaints other than I wore them out!
These are so light it's ridiculous, they are comfortable and perfect for cross training.
