Great for Work and Play

I bought these to replace my Saucony Prestige TR shoes I happened apron at [@] a year ago. The heal was so cush it was just what I needed. I work in a hospital lab where I stand or pace most of the day. I needed something supportive with some cush, not to firm but not too smushy. These are PERFECT! I hope. They seem to be the update version of my old show that I totally burnt out after 365+ days of constant wear. Saucony's where the firs running shoe I ever bought back in 2001 and they really are the only shoe that fits me just right. These Guide 4 feel supportive, responsive, almost a little spring with each step? I can tell the impact is being absorbed and I'm a major heal striker. That's whet I wore out on my Prestiges. These are so flashy and pretty I almost hate to wear them to work.

Great For Work of Play!

I bought these to replace a pair of Saucony Prestige TR shoes that I bought a TJ Maxx a year ago that I snatched up to wear to work because the heal was super cushy which is what I was desperately needing. They ended up being the only shoe I wore all the time and so after 365+ days of wear the cush was pressed flat. I bought these because they looked like a newer version of my old shoe and it appears I was right. For me, Saucony or Ryka are the best fit for my foot. Snugg and supportive. I need the heal cush because I work in a hospital lab on my feet walking in circles for 8 hours. It's a life I wouldn't wish on anyone. But these shoes will make my day a little better. Or atleast my feet will be happy even if I'm not ;0)

I bought and returned 4 pairs of running shoes before I found these but Zappos was cool in upgrading my shipping every time I bought a new pair due to my hassle. And it wasn't their fault I didn't know what I was looking for, really. These shoes are great in the support and comfort area and the style is decent for Saucony. I have high arches and mild-moderate over pronation so I ended up having to buy arch support insoles. With those in there they feel great when running, hiking, walking and during high impact aerobics classes. I think the problem is my feet and not the sneaker. I love Saucony for their comfort, support, cushioning and different features for people with awkward feet. They aren't the coolest looking shoes but I will stick with their brand!

I exchanged a pair of Ride 3 shoes with a defect for these shoes and paid more. Rarely have I ever had a problem with finding shoes to fit my size 10D feet, until now. When I took them out of the box, they looked like they were smaller and when I put one of them I had to squeeze my foot into them, they were still tight after removing the insole. Could this shoe have been mis-sized during production? They are supposed to be 10, but feel like 9. Now I have to exchange them again for another style. I almost want my defective shoes back. Maybe three times is a charm?

Love the ProGrid Guide line

Love the Saucony Progrid Guide shoes, this will be my 3rd pair. I started with the Progrid Guide 3 and the Guide 4 does not disappoint. I have wide feet due to bunions and the wide is perfect plus the design does not irritate them. Also, I have custom orthotics and the shoe perfectly accomodates them. Great shoe for pronation too! I ran 2 half and 1 full marathons with the Progrid 3s, so I'm sure the 4s will be able to do the same! Also love having a fun girly pink color too! Can't beat STP prices, bought my 1st pair of Progrid Guides for over $100 at a running store!

Great Shoes, Great Price

This is my second pair of these. I got my first pair at a running store and loved them. Good support and good fit. When I saw that they were at Sierra I ordered a second pair for when my first pair gets worn out. I have used my first pair almost a year and work out about 3 times a week. They are great shoes that have held up over the last year and I am thankful to have another pair to wear once the ones I have wear out.
Running Mom at Sierra Trading Post on 03/03/2012
I love, love, love the ProGrid Guide 3's so I had very high hopes for the Guide 4. It felt great when I tried it on and walked around the house. But running I found out very quickly that they are very narrow. I don't have a wide foot and don't normally have issues with widths of shoes. Spoke to someone else that had the same problem with the Guide 4. They are very comfortable, just need to get them in wide width!
Melissa P at Zappos.com on 04/20/2011
I had my stride analyzed at a running store a couple years ago, and the Guide was highly recommended for me - I overpronate a little, and I have a wide foot. I've been buying them ever since. They feel good on the first run, great on the second. Not thrilled by the colors available, but the shoe itself is excellent. My foot never feels hot or sticky, and I feel comfortable taking these out on road or trail.
Alix F at Zappos.com on 06/20/2011
These are great sneakers. They are sturdy, while not being heavy. They have netted tops, but I ran a half marathon in misty/sometimes moderate rain and my feet did not feel wet. I had orthodic inserts put in because I need them, so I cannot testify to insole/arch support so much. But these shoes are great. They did not need any breaking in and I am a first time Saucony buyer, now I will be a lifetime buyer.

Great shoes for a very reasonable price

I originally ordered this in a size 9 and the toe box was too tight so had to order 1/2 size up. Ideally, I would have ordered wider but that is a hard to find option. The shoe is comfortable, supports my high arch and extra poundage, is very attractive so may be worn comfortably to work, walking up our many hills here, or playing pickleball, which is what I primarily wanted it for. Good traction and support.

Negative Reviews:

Very stiff running shoe

I have worn Saucony for more than 25 years, mainly to support my high arches and to avoid shin splints. The new pro-grid line features a hard, inflexible piece of plastic across the bottom of the shoe (from the heel across the arch) that makes the shoe quite rigid. Saucony used to have a sort of slightly curved bottom that helped you roll from heel to toe. This shoe is very flat and incredibly inflexible. I felt like I was wearing boards on my feet. Within a half mile the ball of my foot started to feel sore from the slapping motion. I actually first noticed the difference by sound of my foot strike--it sounded like I was running flat footed. These shoes are a great fit and have wonderful arch support, but are much, much too rigid, even for someone like myself who needs a really stabile shoe.
macmom at Sierra Trading Post on 03/03/2012

Shoe Bed VERY Shallow!

Perhaps I got a pair that have some sort of manufacturing defect because I've never seen any shoe with a shoe bed this shallow. There is no room for the foot! The length was almost OK, and I got a half size up, but there was just no way my foot could go into this shoe.
Raw Mom at Sierra Trading Post on 04/04/2012
I am very disappointed in these shoes. I wore a hole in the top mesh within the first couple of days. I exchanged them when that first happened and the second pair did the same thing.

nice shoe-too pointy of toe

I bought these because they came in narrow but there wasn't enough room in the toe on my regular size. I ordered 1/2 size up and even though there was a lot of shoe sticking out beyond my toes they were pointy enough that my toes still felt cramped. I sent them back.
middle aged runner at Onlineshoes.com on 04/04/2011

too narrow and skimpy on toe cushion

nice shoe, but after a few hours I had to take them off, my older pair felt more comfortable. Not as much toe room and felt narrow- like my foot couldn't breathe. I don't usually have problems w/ the box of the shoe, but I will be regretfully sending these back.

My Fault

Usually wear an Asic. Ordered Saucony as a friend wears them. They are nice shoes but tend of pinch at the sides of my feet. Next time I'll go to the store and try on the shoe

"Too much whiz and not enough bang"

My wife uses these shoes to run in the morning. They are better than the worn out shoes she was using before, but they are by no means one of her favorite running shoes she has used.
