Reviews:

No chiggers for me!

Rating:*****
I am a field employee for state government. I am out all year long in hot and incliment weather, and am exposed to poison ivy, ticks, chiggers, mosquitoes, and other nasty things. In July 2008 I had a week-long wetland field course, and knew that the field sites we'd be going to were chigger-filled, as I'd been there previously and had been really bitten up by chiggers. I stopped by the OBT REI store and picked up some permethrin to treat my field pants. I hadn't used this before but figured it'd be better than just using bug spray. All I had to do was spray my field pants (outside), front and back, and allow to dry for three hours the weekend before I started my training. I wore several pairs of treated pants throughout the week and I ended up being one of two people (out of 35) that did NOT get bitten by chiggers. This purchase was TOTALLY worth it. The treatment lasts for 6 weeks or 6 washings. Once the pants were dry they didn't even smell differently, and I wouldn't have even known they were treated. It was definitely worth it to have my pants treated. I will be sure to use permethrin in the future for sites I know have chiggers!
