I'm a lady in my fifties living in Colorado. This is my year to start serious hiking again. I loved the color of these boots. I got a pair for my husband so I knew their quality. I decided to try a pair. I wasn't sure if the men's would be too large. I got what would be equal to a women's size 10. They were incredibly comfortable the first day! Maybe I am unique as I saw no other women's reviews. They aren't too heavy, but have great support! No break in time ~ just like another reviewer stated. The stone & mangrove color looks great. They are true to the color on the site. The size was true. I am BEYOND PLEASED with these Scarpa boots. They are worth the price and should see me backpacking again this summer and out on Colorado trails and in the Tetons by July. You'll love them!

Glad to see that REI is making this boot available on line, but would be even "gladder" if it was stocked in store. Had to go elsewhere for my initial purchase.

Have been backpacking/hiking since '73, mostly hiking since about '02 ( yes, horses can help!).

I started the old way with a lot of boot- Galibier's, Pivettas, Lowas, etc. etc. Most recently Zamberlan and La Sportiva. All were "good" boots-after break in. But, I've got some old slides of the blisters that helped break in those boots, and an emergency room would smile.

Scarpa has got something here that I never thought I'd live to appreciate- a boot that is comfortable, gives good support, is water resistant,and-fits like a heavy running shoe!

Highly recommended!!!

The service was more than I expected. My order arrived at exactly the time and day described (next day). The boots fit well and are also more than I expected: comfortable and lend great support to my weak ankles. Little to no break-in period was needed. Normally I use an ankle brace with all of my other shoes/boots but, it is not needed when I wear my Scarpa Boots.\r\n I would definitely recommend your service and the Scarpa Barun GTX boots to anyone and everyone. I hope to do more business with you in the future. \r\nSiempre, Arnold Guadalupe

Very comfortable for hiking, mountaineering and walking on rough, rocky ground. I have serious foot deformities and problems (diabetes, charcot foot, neuropathy, arthritis) and needed something with a rigid rocker sole, extreme comfort, no blisters, no break in. The podiatrist recommended, orthopedic footwear, it was more expensive, not as well made and meant for old decrepit folks who don't hike. (Smooth sole). The rocker sole takes a little getting used to for most people, but really supports and cushions the foot and ankle on rough terrain. Backpacker magazine recommends it highly. It is expensive, but well made.

Good Boot - Never thought I'd do this, but... bought this boot on a Friday for a Monday trip to Zion in Utah. Wore it all weekend, but when I strapped it on for the summit to Angels Landing, I was more than pleasantly surprised. Comfortable day one... two... three... and on. No rub, no nothing. Just a really comfortable boot. Scarpa is in my sights from now on. My favorite part… 11 2/3" size. Where else can you get that?

Philmont - 90+ miles over New Mexico rocky backcountry mountain trails, 10-12 miles a day, and not a single blister. The advice from your hiking boot specialist was excellent.
