Scarpa's SL M3 is their premier backpacking boot for long trails, heavy loads and hiking in rough terrain. With improved leather-lined tongue and cuff for comfort, as well as an improved M3 all-terrain sole, you're going to find these boots to be tough, trail-loving creatures. This technical footwear is fantastic for everything the trail can throw at you.
Midsole:
- Polyurethane and EVA midsoles provide ample cushioning for all-day use
Fabric:
- Taibrelle® premium nylon lining, produced by melting, delivers higher strength and durability than woven nylon
- Ankle sections are constructed to flex for a balance of comfort and support
Support and Cushioning:
- Sherpa HS12® full-grain leather is extra thick and durable to support serious backpacking; HS12 tanning process is particularly resistant to scuffing and wetting out
Traction and Grip:
- Scarpa SL M3 hiking boots have Vibram® M3 lugged soles that offer good traction when you're ascending and descending steep trails

Retro mixed modern
I have used em on several 14'ers and hikes in the past year, and ther great... once you get them broken-in.very stable in rocky terrain and with heavy loads makeshur you keep leather waterproofing on hand, the lustrus shine will fade, show scuffs and eventuly let water in if you don't keep them treated.
