better for travel than camping

| I once went on a vacation with a small (12 L) backpack. This (and a spork) was my only "kitchen" utensil. It worked great for cereal in the morning, or (with the 'walls' not deployed) a small plate for a bagel/muffin. Then, I took it camping. It worked ok for that, but I had soup in it, and ate it standing up. The walls transfer heat well enough that I had to wait for the soup to cool down before holding it comfortably. Lastly, the seam between the base, and the walls is difficult to get at- in order to clean it, I had to run water on it for an extended period of time- I am not fully convinced that it isn't a breeding/hiding ground for mold/germs/bacteria. All in all, a decent piece of equipment, and something I will definitely bring along with me whenever I travel. | |

Good, but not perfect. | |

| I bought this bowl for a four day backpacking trip and it worked quite well. It packed down small, and was plenty large to make two packs of oatmeal or eat a healthy bowl of ramen with craw-fish tails fresh from the river! My only concerns are that the bottom of the bowl gets rather hot if you pour boiling liquid into it, and that the material holds scent. Even after running the bowl through the dish washer after returning from a trip, it smells like brown sugar from the instant oatmeal. I’ll be keeping this in my bear can hanging from a tree from now on. Still a good product. I’m glad I bought it, and some of the other people on the trip are sure to buy one too. | |

slides right in | |

can't get much better than this. I'm gonna have to buy another for my car camping dry box (my other bowl doesn't collapse and is taking up way too much space). I've been using this all summer for bike-camping trips. I used it for an overnight tour in the spring as well where i crammed all my stuff in to a day pack and it was so nice to just slide this bowl in flat. wish i could choose my color, but oh well, it's great either way!

Favorite Bowl of All Time

| I own a couple of these bowls. I recently ran into some Marines hiking on the appalachian trail who had the bowl as well. we were all like-minded in our bowl opinions. - the best bowl yet. I like them so much I use them at home too. Folding flat sure helps in cramped NYC living conditions as well. Plus I'm a sucker for gadgets, and it's feels like a super-hero's bowl. I use these teamed up with the Guyot Designs Micro Bites, and everything's copastetic. | |

Pretty Good Bowl! | |

| Well, at first I didn't care much for this bowl. I was in the back country for a long period of time so I was limited on water for washing it. All of the crevices made it a bit of a pain to clean. But all of the other benefits outweigh that for sure. It was incredibly light and compact and fit in my cramped pack without a problem. A little expensive though. | |

"Supreme Bowl" | |

| This is a great piece of equipment. It packs small and expands to a good size bowl to eat out of. I love the hard bottom that makes it easy to cut without any fear of slicing through the bowl. I have several and intend on replacing them if I were ever to damage or lose one. I highly recommend this product to anyone who need a good light piece of cookware. | |

Best purchase I've made in a long time!!

| I feel bad for the first poster, because they must have came across a bad bowl. I couldn't have found a better product. Its very easy to clean, and very compact. The cutting board is great. I have used this bowl three times so far, and it shows no sign of wear. I would be curious to find out how the first poster's bowl has worn out already. | |

So glad these finally came back into stock. I recommend buying one now if you are considering it cause they sell like hot cakes and for good reason!

| I LOVE my x bowl!!! It is so much better than the squishy bowls. First, it does not roll down a hill like a ball when you set it down on one, it has ahard base, and it is bigger and it packs flat. 5 stars, would not leave without it!!1 | |

X-Bowl | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
The X-Bowl is a legit backcountry bowl. It's highly collapsible, lightweight, and the bottom can be used as a cutting board. These things are food safe, can go down to 40F, up to 356F, can be used with boiling water, and are dishwasher safe. Talk about bombproof. These things rock!

Neat idea, too many drawbacks

| I always test out any new gear at home before taking it on the trail. When adding HOT soup for the first time there was a strong rubber smell, this may go away after a while but it was not for me. For the price I found them a bit heavy and question how durable they will be over time. They do not nestle, just stack. For me I like all my cookware in one neat nestled stack. | |

Holds the smell of everything I put in it. After awhile I could not get it past my nose. Perhaps it is me, but I would not buy one again.

A rodent ate my bowl! | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| Bought for my wife so she didn't have to share the cookpot to eat from. But on the first night of the first trip of use it was bitten into by some marmots or some similar animal in the Sierras. Perhaps after salt from the rubber? Anyway it's of no more use. We both loved it before this mishap though. Definitely store in your pot if you have to leave it out at night... | |
