Great cover, great fit!

I bought two. One for an Old Town Loon 100 and the other for an Old Town Otter. I ordered the sizes listed by the manufacturer and, if anything, the were a smidgen too large. That's okay. They still serve their purpose and are better to large than too small. The hype about how hard they are to fit on the boat was all hoo-hoo as far as I am concerned. They are no problem at all to fit on, even after the boat is loaded up on a truck rack and has to be done as an after thought while standing on the truck bed rail. (Not recommended... best to install cover prior to loading. *smiles*)

I would have given 5 stars if they had the sewn in straps to better secure them to the kayak for transport.

Just what I was looking for

We store our kayak on the side of our lake dock walkway, and I was looking for something to cover the cockpit - mostly to keep spiders from getting in and making webs but also to protect the seat and keep it dry and clean inside. I was so pleased to find exactly what I was looking for and one that was made to fit my specific model and kayak size. It fits perfectly, looks good, and does exactly what I was hoping it would.

Seals Spray Cockpit Cover Great

We used these covers to protect our kayaks when we are not using them. They cover the cockpit tightly and keep insects out. We also want them to cut down on the wind drag when we travel. The covers are really great, and we have no cons so far. Since we haven't had any rain, I can't tell if they are waterproof or not, but based on the snug fit, I would say that they are. You can't beat them for the price.

Great deal

I bought 2 of these for my Pungo Kayaks (120 & 140) with the over sized cockpits of the Pungos it would have easily cost me double of what I paid on Kayaks.net. The toll free number got me very quickly to a nice person (no pressing a bunch of number for service) who helped me correctly size my cover and take my order and get it quickly shipped to me. Thanks Kayak.Net

does what it needs to do!

This cover fits the cockpit of my kayak perfectly. The bungee is tight enough that it takes a bit of effort to get it over the lip of the cockpit all around, but once it's on, it's on. It's not going anywhere. I have to store my kayak outdoors, so I wanted something that would keep bugs and critters from building webs and nests in my kayak. This will be perfect!

Great buy

Between my wife and I we have four kayaks. We have kayaked over 15 years. These cockpit covers work great and at a good price. You can spend twice as much getting the exact same thing from a kayak store if you want. Get these and use the money you save on an extra day on the water.

Great cover, great price

Does what it is supposed to do. Covers my kayak cockpit very well. Keeps the critters out and most of the water out if it rains. Best part is that it was cheaper here then the actual seals website. Another awesome purchase from campmor.

Did what I needed!

I have used this for several weeks as a protective cover to keep friendly insects out, while using it to keep paddle and other gear safe during storage and tow.
It needs to be snug, but it takes a little work to get on.
macsterpat at Campmor on 07/07/2011

Go ahead and buy it!

Unlike the rest of the reviews, I found it very easy to put on. The cover stays on very well even in 50 MPH winds. It's also water proof and is very compactable so you can pack it for camping trips.
The Daniel at Campmor on 01/01/2013

Works as expected.

Transported my kayak on the top of my car in high winds and heavy rain with little or no water getting into the kayak. The kayak was exposed top side up in the rain for 24 hours. The cover worked great.

Negative Reviews:

Not great but probably good enough

This cover must be the promo model as the fabric is thin and lacks loops for a hull strap. At least it has a forward tether loop. It does not have the Seals logo imprinted on the top. Even with the shock cord snugged this 1.7 cover barely holds the weight of collected rainwater without imploding. I have another nylon Seals cockpit cover for another boat that is much sturdier and stays on better. That said, this flimsy one may be good enough for now if it doesn't blow off on the freeway.
Tinman at Campmor on 11/11/2011

Not like the older version

My previous Seal Kayak Cockpit cover was much more substantial, with a rubberlike feel to it and has elastic to fit around the cockpit. Very easy to place by one person. This one is made of a totally different material and with no elastic, only cinch-type cord. It's awful to place!! I have two kayaks and avoid using this one simply because I have to struggle to so to put the cover back on!

seals 1.4 cockpit cover

over priced

Neutral Reviews:

hard to attach to kayak by yourself

you might want to include instructions on how to attach this cover or suggestions for dealing with the difficulty of getting it stretched over the cockpit when only one person tries it. I bought this for three friends and each of them had trouble in stretching the cover over the cockpit and having it not pull away from the rim. In each case, it took two people to "git er dun."
paddle boy at Campmor on 06/06/2011

wish I had 3 hands!!!

Well, it was selling at a great price, but this cover is an overall disappointment to me. The cover loves to spring off the cockpit rim and when it rains, the cover bows in and fills with water, after tipping the water out, the cover stays wrinkled and does not react well to wind or movement. buy one with a support band in it.
[*]man at Campmor on 05/05/2012

Overall Good product

Very tough to get cover on cockpit. Almost a two person job. Would have been better with elastic band, or wider opening that can be closed up with drawstring or something of that nature.
fishinfeller at Campmor on 12/12/2011

OK, but would not buy again

Very hard to put on by yourself
Was looking for a cover to use to improve gas mileage but this is not it.
Doug at Campmor on 06/06/2011
