Great for the money | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I am an avid backpacker and live in the southeast where it doesn't get too cold even in extreme winter. I have found that this set does great for the price. Sure there are some jackets and pants that breathe better but also cost three times as much. For those of us enjoying the outdoors on a budget you can't get a better set for the price. At 7oz this jacket is extremely light weight and is a great addition to your gear. With a layer underneath I have not noticed the moisture issues that others have complained about. I would not use this in the extreme humid summer but have not found any rain gear that I would. In the summer when the weather goes south "down south" I find it better to enjoy the refreshing rain and put on a dry set of clothes at camp. If the saying goes "you get what you pay for" then I believe that I got a great set of rain gear without hitting the wallet too hard!! | |

| this jacket does what it was made for,to keep you (dry)...i work out in the field all day & i need to keep on working no matter what!...this jacket has worked above & beyond other jackets i had owed...those jackets will be staying in my closet from now on...im a firm believer that use what works, this jacket (works!)...i have already told all my fellow co-workers to run out & get one or two of these jackets...the only down side to this jacket was that i could not find it in safety orange or green!!! | |

Well made | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I like the way the seams are all reinforced on the inside. It is a well made jacket and the hood is big enough to fit easily over a hard hat. I have a 49" chest and am over 6', I ordered the 2xx and it just barely fit over an insulated flannel shirt. It is also shorter than I expected, comes to about 3 inches below the belt line. So order an extra size bigger and make sure you get pants or you'll have a wet rear end. | |

Nice Jacket | |

| I have actually only used it once but it was in the rain and I stayed dry and it did not feel bulky. My wife also got one because it was a good value. | |

Disappointment | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I was extremely disappointed with this jacket. I just got back from a wet week in the Smokies that was made even wetter by this jacket. My wife and I both have other rain jackets from Golite and I decided to try this one out to see if it was a good option. It was not. Besides the fact that it doesn't breath (which I can live with most of the time) the zippers are terrible. Every time I bent I could feel the water leaking into the jacket through the zippers. The pockets lead right into the inner jacket because of their mesh lining, making leaking zippers even worse. My maps became soaked, the socks I was drying with my body heat became soaked, and the clothes I was wearing were soaked. It's just a terrible jacket for it's purpose no matter what the price. | |

Run away from this product

| Honestly, I read the reviews on this product before I bought it. I ended up ignoring them because I've had good luck with Sierra Designs products before. That being said, this jacket doesn't breathe at all. I had the chance to wear it one day at work and I ended up being a clammy mess by the end of my shift. On my second day of owning it, I went to put it on and found that one of the pit zip seams had ripped from end to end. I took it back and got an REI Ultra Light, which I'm much happier with. | |

Wet on the inside | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| This fabric is NOT breathable, contrary to the representation on the label and advertising. The jacket is not suitable for anything other than completely sedentary activities. It is waterproof, but do not expect to stay dry on the inside. The hood has limited adjustabilty, making visibilty problematic unless you wear a ball cap under the hood. | |

You get what you pay for | |

| I keep this in my backpack for those "just in case" situations. It's cheaper than other rain jackets and stows nicely which makes it a nice extra jacket to carry around, but it breathes poorly. I would spend the extra $20-$40 for a jacket that breathes better, and most stow tightly too. | |

great, except for a small problem

| i am a professional climber and i know my gear. sierra designs is a great company but i was a little let down by this one. this jacket does just rite when it coes to being waterproof except for the areas where they're are zippers, theres not enough protection there and unless im wearing a pack water gets through the zippers. another thing is that this jacket does not breath, i will go out for a day hike and get caught in the rain and put this thing on and i might as well have not worn it because i end up getting soaked on the inside to. one thing i like about it though is that it is a good price for the weight. at 7 ounces its a good weight for me. this jacket is a piece of gear that i carry but not for rainwear, i usually carry this for a lite wind breaker, thats the one thing that this jacket does good. for rain wear i would persoally recomend arctryx. good hiking to all.. . . .. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . | |

| i bought this cuz i am a conscious broke college student and this didn't break my bank....i don't wear it heavily, cuz its a "just in case thing" but it has treated me well so far!!! can get hot! zippers are sticky, i hope it'll hold up for a while!! but i like it overall! and it is water proof!!!! i have worn it both alone, and over my marmot softshell, i would recommend this to someone! | |
