Outside Buyer's Guide, Summer '08 says, ''Partly recycled, yes. But the Verde won this year's award because of how it performed in the field.''
2008 Gear Of The Year Award from Outside Magazine! As green as green gets, the Sierra Designs Verde 20 is a testament to the Sierra Designs Green Effect program. Climashield Green insulation is post-consumer recycled polyester. EcoSensor Recycled Shell material is spun from recycled materials, too. The Cocona Woven liner incorporates sustainable, all-natural Cocona for improved moisture management and odor prevention. Warm, comfortable, durable, just like all Sierra bags, in the most earth-friendly version we could dream of.

Great Bag with Design Flaws | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| Pad Locks work well at keeping the sleeping pad from shifting during the night. The problem is that at the two points where they are attached on the zipper side of the bag they cause problems in closing the zipper. Body weight causes the "locks", which are straps, to bring tension on the zipper. Zipping the bag up is much more difficult than zipping it down. This is especially true in the middle of the night in a two person tent. My companion was as surprised as I was at the amount of struggling I went through to get into the bag and zipped up. I believe that if these straps were attached further under the bag and not so close to the zipper this problem might be eliminated. This particular problem brought me to the point of returning the bag. I've never done this with any other bag I've purchased. That said, other than this design flaw the bag performed quite well. I was was warm and comfortable while in the bag during some rather cold nights in a recent camping trip to Yellowstone. It was just more of a struggle to get into this bag than any other bag I've use in my fifty some years of camping. | |
