Things to know about Silva Tech 4 O | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| This watch is the best pedometer (I have the runner’s watch with the oval ring). I love how it automatically distinguishes between running and walking to measure distance, speed. But there are other things which are not so great. 1. One of the things I couldn’t find when shopping was the size. The crystal is 1 inch; the case outside size is 1-5/8 inch. 2. The domed crystal always has a glare which makes it difficult to read. A flat crystal doesn’t do this. It is also more prone to scratching - I've scuffed mine after only 3 weeks. 3. Buttons too easily activate when putting on a coat or reaching into a pocket. When I look at the watch half the time it is not showing time so I have to fiddle with buttons to see the time. 4. In exercise mode, time is only recorded to the nearest second, and the chronometer can not be operated at the same time as the pedometer. 5. One needs to be aware that the exercise mode starts automatically when one enters that mode (after a few seconds delay) It is easy to unintentionally add to one’s exercise record if one does not remember to stop it while looking at the data. Overall - 5 star as pedometer, 4 stars for style, 3 stars as a watch. | |

| I use this watch for trail and road running. It's been a very useful tool while training for a 29k trail race. It's for the most part very accurate and easy to use and clearly displays the information that is most pertinent to my needs i.e. time, exercise time, and distance in miles. The product claims 95% accuracy and I think this is correct. Once I got the settings dialed in I compared the watch's record of miles on a run to what a I had mapped out online and the difference was insignificant. I have never owned a more expensive GPS device so I can't compare the two but I am completely satisfied with all this watch has to offer. | |

| I bought this on a whim after having issues with another pedometer. Been using it for several months now. Once you get the hang of it, it is an excellent running pedomenter. I've compared it against a local college 400m track, and it is (estimated) accurate within 0.005 miles. | |

| I bought this watch to train for a 25K. It works great. The intial programming is a bit in depth, but if you can follow instructions you'll be fine. | |
