My feet are now in Heaven

I use this product with my GARMONT Men's Syncro Plus GTX Backpacking Boots and they are wonderful! My feet haven't felt or been this comfortable with any sock I have ever felt before. I had no idea my feet could feel this good all due to a simple pair of socks, yet not so simple because they are perfectly designed. I will never go back to my "Gold Toe" socks or any other for that matter. When your feet are warm, super comfortable, & feel like they're walking on clouds, you can push yourself to greater limits and concentrate on the adventure at hand, instead of worrying about your feet being wet and or uncomfortable. Truly a mind-blowing break-thru I never knew existed!

Best socks ever!

I love these socks. I bought four pair and have had them for 4 years. I machine wash, warm, and air dry them, although you can machine dry. They cushion and support your feet. I wear them all year, warm in winter and cool in summer. They are a natural fiber and wick moisture away, keeping your feet comfortable. I wear them with sneakers or hiking boots and they are great to wear everyday. They are not itchy at all. They are smart wool!!! If you want something a little thinner, try the light crew. They are not that much different and have all the same qualities as the medium crew.

Love the Smartwool Midweights

I wear the Smartwool Midweights daily for everything except running. Have for perhaps 5 years. They seem to last forever. I pass them on to a friend when I get new ones. The up front price seems high, but for the use I get out of a pair they are the greater value over time. Comfortable, wide temperature range, wicks well. How did I live without them! When I find them on sale, that's a great thing. My 89 year old mother loves them, too. Always asks for them for Christmas. Tip: I find they last longer and are more comfortable (fit) when I hang dry them.

Buy These!!

Theses socks are used daily by me because after my first pair, I asked for more from everyone in my family. They thought I was joking when I told them I really just want as many pairs of these as I can get. I got enough to wear everyday!! Now everyday is a good day. The only issue is that they do shrink a little in the wash, just go by the chart that matches your shoe size. And no they don't itch. These are very comfortable, soft and warm socks. Pricey, but worth it.

Great socks

My husband has to wear steel toed shoes and has a condition called Charcot Marie Tooth syndrome which makes working with steel toed boots and sneakers very difficult for his feet. He has an ulcerated toe and had to go to the wound center
for 1 month and missed work for 1 month. These socks have enabled him to go back to work and not have sores on his feet anymore. Thank You for such a great product.

Good Stuff

OK, I have been buying smartwool for years. They are warm in the winter and cool in the spring and autumn, really. The merino wool is so comfortable. I wear the heavy smartwool for hiking, and the lighter smartwool every day at work. The only time they are too warm is at work on hot summer days. But for summer hiking, I still wear smartwool. They wick away the sweat from my very sweaty feet.

Great Socks, Great Deal. Buy 3, 1 Free

I have been wearing these socks for hiking and colder weather wear in the Adirondacks for years and I love them. For snowshoeing and in really cold weather I layer them with silk liners. This new Wool on Wool technology makes them even better than the older pairs I have. I just couldn't pass up a deal like this. I bought 3 pairs and I got 1 pair Free! I purchased them online

Great Fit

I got four pairs of these for my birthday. I love them. I got my first pair of SmartWool socks last year and really liked them. I think these are even more comfortable than my previous ones. The fit is just right on my foot. They are very soft inside and keep my feet warm.

Great socks

I own several pairs of smart wool socks and I love them all. These ones seem a little softer and stretchier than the others (which is nice) but it may just be that they're new. I think the Smart Wool socks hold up better than some knock off brands I've tried.

most comfortable

I purchased these socks for a leisure wear. I use them on weekends and when I'm out and about. These socks are extremely comfortable, stay in place all day, and just feel right. I will not buy another sock for the purpose I use these. Outstanding....

Negative Reviews:

Don't last long

After one light backpacking trip the yarn was loosening and pilling on the shin around the boot cuff. After 5 or 6 more trips, they lost most of the cushioning effect. The interior loops flatten out and just don't fluff up again. Not really worth the price.

Kids styles don't match, had to return

Wanted to buy smartwool socks that match for the whole family. Had to return all the socks and go that other store with a three-letter name and lo-and-behold, their kids socks matched their adult socks. You know how perceptive 3-year-olds can be.

Did something change

I am wondering if they changed something in these socks. I have many pair that I bought a couple years ago that I wear daily and for hiking and outdoor fun and they are super soft, cushy and comfortable but the ones I just bought don't seem the same, they aren't that soft, they feel different, not so good. I may have to look for a new favorite sock.

These socks quick to wear out

I took these new socks on a 12 hour day hike through Baxter State Park. After this one day of use the socks were pilling and worn in the back. I've had similar trouble with Smart Wool products in the past in that they wear too quickly.

Great warmth ... but can't keep 'em on.

Great for warmth ... but they continually slide down. That's OK with a low hiker/shoe .... but when worn with a boot, it's very annoying.

Little Padding

Smartwool manufactures a better wool sock with padding. Wearing these socks before, they do last a long time.
