I bought two pairs of the boxer briefs and one pair of the boxers four months ago before a trip to South America. The boxer briefs are perfect. They do not have any irritating seems. The size is perfect in that they fit close to the skin but not tight where they ride up in the legs and eventually give you a wedgie like other brands I've bought. The wool is also perfect--not hot, always feels fresh and no smell like capeline. I hand washed and line dried while in South America with no problems. As a comparison, the boxer model is also great--just fits looser and perfect when you feel like swinging a little more free that day. TK

"Uber Comfortable" | |

| The Smartwool Micro weight boxers are awesome. Keeping you dry and warm in all the right places, they seem to be a bit roomy overall, I am between a small and a medium, and I got the medium, but now I kinda wish I got the small. I have a big diego butt too. Go figure. I guess this happens, I have two pair, and will plan on getting atleast another two for this year as well. Very comfortable, right cut/seams, to make it as if you don't have any restrictions. | |

i went on a mission to find the ultimate pair of wool underwear for hiking/camping style activities and these were it. few seams, the waist band is part of the garment, not a separate itchy band. the "hole" in front is probably the coolest ever invented for ease of access and general comfort. i haven't run in them for hours at a time, but i have worn them for days, and they are my favorite. four out of five just because nothing is perfect...

If they were less expensive they'd be the only underwear I wear, period. they're super comfortable, they wick very well, I think they're perfect. I always machine wash them in cold and hang dry them, which makes them less convenient for day-to-day use. I'm not even sure that I have to do that--I'm just afraid I'm going to ruin them and I don't spend the $$$ to replace them.

Fantastic First Layer | |

These briefs feel like you're wearing air, keep upper thighs separated so there is no chafing, and wick moisture very well. Honestly, I was leery of paying this much for a first layer, but after using them for 9 days in 95-degree heat for 4- to 6-hour day hikes in Red Rock Canyon NV, I'm sold. I felt dry and comfortable all day, and the odor protection was fantastic.

Expensive, but very comfortable. I found that the seams were bothering me, but I started wearing them inside out, and the problem has been completely solved!

Absolutely spoiled | |

| The best boxers I have ever worn, period. Breathable, soft, comfortable, easy to clean. These things have spoiled me to the point where anything else I try to wear is intolerably uncomfortable. Perhaps I am just that picky, but I cannot go back to a lesser product. Smartwool, you rock. | |

Very comfortable, but way over priced. That is the only reason they don't get 5 stars. Also, they seem to have odd sizing. I normally wear a L but based on other reviews ordered an XL which fits fine. Patagonia is almost as comfortable and more reasonably priced.

| Not sure if these are last years model as they are a slightly different cut then ones I recently purchased. Great set of briefs, though highly overpriced. They also run small...go up one size. Best set of briefs I own, just wish they were more reasonably priced. | |

| These were great on a week-long trip around Mt. Rainier. They would dry quickly and help keep the smell at bay. :-) I would highly recommend these. I know they are a little pricey, but they are worth it. No itching at all! Go smartwool! | |

Bring back the kangaroo pouch!
| Rating: | ![]() |
| These are not a bad pair of underwear, but for the price you should expect better. I have found wool to be superior to all other fabrics with regard to comfort and odor abatement. But like other products, these too wear thin and run way too quickly in the inner thigh region. I would love to see them use a heavier weight fabric here. Also, the thing that cheeses me off the most is the departure from the kangaroo pouch design for the fly. Common guys, the sideways opening is not ergonomic and can be painful! Bring back the kangaroo pouch! | |

Great Wicking, Bad Chafing
| Rating: | ![]() |
I bought these to use for soccer tournaments (i'm a referee and sometimes will ref 8-10 hours a day for a tournament). These wick very, very well to keep the sweat off as much as possible. Although I have had a big problem with chafing where the stitching is, although I doubt I would get the chafing if I used them for lesser activities like hiking or for a 2 hour run, and i'm sure it doesn't help that I have a classic soccer butt(big due to leg strength training). Basically, for the price I don't recommend them if you intend to use them in a similar capacity that I do (intensive running for most of the day), otherwise they would probably be a good asset for hot, humid areas.
