one of the bests

I have two of these shirts, one I bought about 4 years ago at EMS and the other at a tent sale in NH a year ago. I'd seriously recommend this to anyone who can fit into it. They are fitted and really do hug the body, I'm 5'9" and 130, and a small is perfect. Although they are not super warm on their own, they help wick moisture, reduce wind, and are great for layering due to its fitted style. As for the one reviewer on quality, I have washed my oldest one at least 20 times and worn it seriously about 200 days, almost twice a week for half the year. the only problems I have with quality so far are the thread around the wrist coming loose and a few moth eaten holes. Remarkably, the largest moth hole has been there for about three years and hasn't grown in size since the day I discovered it.

Great product

Love SmartWool. I wear their socks year round and also have a hat, liner gloves, and another medium weight zip top. I am 6' 4", 185 lbs.. I wear this piece as a base layer to work and hiking/snowshoeing during the winter. I basically live in it. My skin is sensitive to wool but this does not itch at all. I have an Icebreaker zip top but can't wear it because it itches alot. The Smartwool top is very comfortable and cozy. I usually wear medium tall or large sized tops because my body is thin but my arms are longer than normal. My arms are 36 long. I had to buy an XL because the arms were too short in the Large size. The body fits well considering I am thin for that size. The fit conforms to my body. I thought it would be baggy but it is not. Really happy I bought it.

Smart Wool Rocks

I love my Smart wool top. I have been doing training and races for close to 25 years and I have tried all kinds of warm weather gear. This is truly the best. I wore it for a 14 mile trail run the other day in 27 degree weather and it kept me so toasty. It wicked the sweat away from my skin and I never got chilled. I did have a thin shortsleeve layer under it but I was amazed how well it preformed. It is ver pricey at 100+ dollars but you get what you pay for. Make sure to store it in a container that prevents moths during the off months. My favorite Smart Wool hat was eaten last year stored in my dresser.

almost there

what does style have to do with being warm at 20 below. I'll save style for the bar. The shirt is way too short to really tuck in. It does not pass the bend over test. You know the one, Can you touch your toes and the shirt stays in the pants. Nope. Very disappointed.
The old fleece came way down. This new fashion of flaunting ones belly is great if I were surfing, but not skiing. Wish someone took outside seriously. I am only 5-8. don't know what a tall person does.
I adore this company. I collect their socks. But they have missed an opportunity here.

A new favorite

I heard the hype, but never imagined wearing wool against my skin. It's very comfy! I stayed warm and dry at different temps while x-c skiing. It absolutely doesn't retain odors like synthetics do. After a 3 day weekend it smells clean compared to polypro after half a day.
I haven't used other brands of merino, so I can't make comparisons there - and I can't yet judge long term durability. For now I am VERY happy with this. I can't imagine going back to synthetics.

Absolutely one of the best products

I have purchased 2 sets for myself this year and 2 sets for gifts. If you are into cold weather sports this is the product for you. Cozy, warm, moisture-wicking and light-weight and great for layering. I wear this in our home and for outdoor activities such as running hiking snowshoeing and cross-country skiing. Product is expensive but well worth every penny.

Great Product!

Wore this and the pants under a shell while hiking this weekend in 20F. I was more than comfortably warm. Even opened the armpit vents on the shell to keep from sweating. It's very comfortable on the skin, as are all the SmartWool products.

I found it sized somewhat "generously", but not uncomfortably so.

smartwool is the best

smartwool is perfect for florida winter not too hot during the day but when layered nice warmth just sitting in the stands @ at a Daytona night race (around 30 windy & very damp - even the northerners were cold)

Love Smartwool Everything!

Purchased for my husband, who is not a fan of wool, and my son. Both love their shirts! My son is a collegiate golfer and my husband hunts as well as travels for a living.

Worth every penny

Just received my merino wool top. Buy it! I'm 5 11. 178 large is perfect fit. Comfort range 1 to 10 a ten!!! Quality very nice. Thanks Moosejaw!

Over-rated

About the Cons comments... some loose fibre starts to appear on the surface, a sign of the woven material starting to braek apart...I doubt the material will last after a few more washes. Considering its durability, it is expensive and impractical for the price I paid. I will look for other natural woolen woven shirts.

Love smart wool but too short

I love Smartwool products. Wish it was a little longer in the sleeve and torso. Rides up. Sorry, but will probably return
