SmartWool Women's Midweight Boot Top Bottom

I love wool long underwear, and the boot top length is perfect for skiing - no bunching in your boot! I'm partial to Icebreaker, but I snagged a pair of these SmartWool midweight bottoms at a great price, and they're quite nice. I agree with the other reveiwer who likes the waistband. It's a comfy, thin rollover band of wool. I also agree with her on these remaining more fitted than Icebreaker bottoms. In really cold weather, I still find that midweight wool is not warm enough under non-insulated ski pants, but they're great the rest of the time!

what did i do without them?

i ordered these recently and held my breath because it was my first purchase of smartwool base layers (have many sox) and because i had to get xs when i might have ordered s if available. i had read reviews of smartwool tops that cautioned against them being too tight and small for size. i love my xs. since this is a next to skin layer it is perfect. i'm 5'0''/115lbs and i like xs for next to skin and s for second layer. smartwool is luscious. l look for reasons to wear it.

If you are going sking they will fit your legs perfect!

I really liked these pants, I bought a XS(I was on the downside on the S size), because the S was not in stock, but the size chart said that I should wear a S, but the XS fitted me perfect, I am 158cm(5,2?) and they were not too long, they covered my legs with just a little bit of extra fabric. The waist band is really good, not one of them lame ones and the wool is not too thin.

new go-to bottoms | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
these are great, boot top or 3/4 length is really the way to go for skiing/snowboarding. I had been sold on the icebreaker 3/4 bottoms but when i ordered a new pair they had this new tighter (sausage roll inducing) waist-band. These smart wools do not, they have a wrapped comfortable waist band. So these will be my new go-to bottoms. they also don't seem to stretch out as much as the ice breakers did.

these are gonna get a lot of wear. they are soft, warm and the weight of the fabric is very versatile. they stretch out a little over the course of the day, but they shape up in the wash. smartwool rocks, can't have too much!

Wife just used this today for 2 hours for the first time and discovered a tear on the lower hamstring area. Hasn't even been washed yet. She's contacting SAC support as I type.

Inseam too short. | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
I found the inseam too short, making for a big (and cold) gap between the top of my ski boot and the bottom of this base layer. I do have long legs, so those with shorter legs may not have this problem. Otherwise I found them very comfortable and nice and warm.
