I got these socks because I have plantar fascia (arch) issues. Co-workers here at backcountry suggested smartwool's elite fit system with the elastics in the midfoot to stabalize the tendons... boy am I glad I got these! I'm throwing out all of my old non-supportive snowboard socks and going 100% smartwool! I picked up 2 pairs of these lightweight and 1 pair of mediums and so far I like the lightweight better, they seem to keep my feet actually WARMER because my feet don't sweat as much. Also, the elite fit system helps increase circulation which further helps keep my feet feeling gravy even after 6 hours of hard-charging. LOVE these socks.
These socks are great, snug and warm, I'm a size 10 and bought the large size and it feels great almost like a compression sock but not that much so.
