Great boot, falling part after 3 wears..
My daughter LOVES these boots - the color, the fit - BUT the outer buttons popped off on the SECOND wearing. We're just talking "walking around" wearing. These boots never saw snow or rain. I think we just got a defective pair.
Worked with customer service and they are replacing them free of charge. STP customer service is the best around.
Besides that - Love them - I think they will be warm enough and the fact that they can be switched out to rain boots is terrific - now i don't have to buy her a new pair! Would prefer a darker color - shale mud is bound to stain them, but the light blue is the color she picked out, so we'll live with that.
all in all - like them - as long as the button thing gets resolved before it snows!
A fine boot
My 4 y.o. son got these to replace a sadly outgrown pair of Bogs (previously purchased from STP). I like that the Sorel boot is waterproof all the way up, unlike the Bogs, and that it is somewhat insulated. The Sorel's fit, however, seems loose, more like a traditional rainboot. The Bogs fit my son's foot more snugly, allowing him to climb and jump in puddles. My son wore the Bogs daily, rain or shine. The Bogs also appear to be warmer, which isn't as important in our Northern California climate. And while I like the bright, cheery blue and white colors on the Sorel, the Bogs' brown polka dot style ALWAYS received compliments. I am not sure I'd buy these over the Bogs again, at least for my son. The fit is just too loose. FYI, I got each boot at an excellent price, [$]
Not meant for really cold weather.
I bought these for my 8 year old son who insisted on this particular pair of boots because of the bear logo on the side. He says they are really comfortable and he likes that he can pull out the liner and wear them as rain boots. I was hoping for a bit more insulation on the inside as our temperatures here in Idaho get in the low teens on a daily basis in the winter. As it is, if he is going to be wearing them in the snow for an extended period of time, I am going to have to double up on socks.
I like that there are no laces/ties to deal with as he gets impatient when the snow hits and it is time to get outside and play.
perfect for mild climate
I bought these for my 4 year old son to wear as rain boots. I ordered them in his normal size and they are a good fit with regular socks. My husband pointed out that with thick winter socks they might be too tight since they are lined on the inside. We live in TN so I think they will fit fine and keep his feet warm enough while wearing thin socks. I will say if you live in a cold climate the lining in the boots is thin and most likely will not keep feet warm enough in snow. We are going skiing and I am buying a different pair of boots more appropriate for colder weather.
Great for the price!
I got these boots for my 2 1/2 year old daughter and she LOVES them. I read the review about the liners not being thick enough for one purchaser, but if I put a pair or two of thick socks on, these boots will work great for my daughter this winter. And- if I take the liners out they're great for play time and spending time with grandma and grandpa in Alaska. The boots themselves feel thick- which is really nice, since durable boots (thick, but still pliable) work best for toddler's scuffing around. I love them, my husband loves them, and my daughter thinks they're the prettiest boots ever!
Super boot
I bought these for my daughter and she has loved them since first putting them on. The only drawback is that they have an open top, her other Sorel boots have a drawstring which helps keep snow out. But snow pants over the boots work very well, and she seems to really love them. It is nearly warm enough to take the liner out and use them as rain boots. And then pass them on to her little brother (we got the royal blue)! As far as I can tell from the feedback of a 3-year old, the sizing is true.
does what its supposed to
This is the best time to buy them!
The kids can wear them with the liners this winter, and as their feet get larger by the spring, the boots will still fit when the liners are taken out.
The liners are light fleece with a padded sole, so this boot is well suited to places that get moderately cold; ones that rain or get occasional snow in the winter. The rubber boots are very solid.
"Chili" is a true red, btw.
My daugter loves these!
My Seven year old daughter loves these boots. First because she can still run around at recess and not be hindered by clunky snow boots and second the great pattern. Her feet have stayed warm and dry. My only complaint and the reason for the four star rating is the buttons on the side that hold the finger pulls have popped off. However, they are not necessary so I removed them, other than that these are a great boot for fast growing kids.
initial impression good!
The Sorels Rainbo are well made - no cheap material here! Since we are still in a major drought, no chance to wear them yet but am hoping for a wet winter! Bought them for myself (ladies 6-6.5 depending on shoe) and they seem a bit big but no half size was offered and didn't see any recommendations for the conversion. Got the youth 5. Love that there is a removable liner that is easy to put back into the boot!
Cute Shoes
These shoes are great for my 3yo daughter. I got them in the light blue color and I was worried how much dirt they might show, but they clean up so easy with a wet rag. Ane she loves them since she can get them on and off by herself. I like how not only are they great for rain but since they are insulated with fleece they will be great for when it starts to get cold.
