Doesn't replace orthotics - I have flat feet and banged up ankles. I needed good arch supports in lieu of custom orthotics to make it possible to wear every day shoes. These puppies look so high tech you think they'll cure arthritis, however sadly, they do not. They do improve your arch but not as much as you'd hope if you truly have flat feet. I'd rate the arch alone a 3. There be plenty of cushion for someone looking for arch relief, but if your arches are fine and all you need is cushion, there are other models that provide more padding and less arch. Overall the insert is thick so it will change the dynamic of any shoe, so only wear with shoes already wide enough to fit your feet too (wide toe box, etc). These aren't the best arch supports I've ever owned and not remotely a replacement for something custom, but better than nothing. If I were you I would see if something better exists and then buy these as your backup plan in case your search is unsuccessful. Good luck.

I found these insoles to be squeaky on at least one pair of shoes (Irish Setter's), but for walking any distance, these are great. I do not use them for anything but walking more than at least a couple of miles, used with a hiking sock. What a difference! Only reason I gave 4 stars overall was the squeak issue, which Spenco is aware of. This seems to be some incompatibility with the materials used to make some shoes. I got a different shoe, the problem was solved.

Good support, but look to Spenco Polysorbs for cushioning - OK, let’s say it - they look cool with all those different foams and plastic ribbing. Space age or what? So I tried them and I have to say, they are good. They provide good levels of support and made my boots comfier, BUT Spenco Polysorbs are MUCH better for cushioning, even if they are plain looking! If you need arch support, get these. If you want cushioning, get Spenco Polysorbs.

Good for sore feet - I am not a hiker but I decided to try these because I have foot issues and need insoles in all my walking shoes for comfort. These are even better than the other, rigid Spenco insoles I have tried before. They offer strong arch support with cushioning. The rigid type only offer strong arch support. I love them. They have helped with my heel pain.

Great insoles. I use these in my running shoes. They are the best ... great heel cushioning but most important to me is the excellent forefoot cushioning. I am recovering from foot surgery and the forefoot cushioning is the best I have ever found.

Well made, but they hurt. Having used Spenco Crosstrainer insoles in most of my shoes and having loved them, I thought these would be another great product with even more stability control. They DO have more stability control and they ARE well-made, however they are quite painful to wear. Just after a few minutes of walking my feet ache! I have looked them over carefully and they have too many little "support" areas in the bottom of the feet areas. Things like a small elevated ridge in the ball of your feet area, etc. These are very painful and leave your feet very fatigued after wearing them. I am going back to the Spenco Crosstrainer, just too bad I had to purchase before finding this out! I wished I would have found a review with this information so I would not have made this expensive mistake.
