SRAM PG-990 9-Speed Cassette

Cycling > CassettesRated: ***** by 1 review.

Enjoy the same reliable, lightweight performance thatSRAM's BlackBox racers enjoy. The 990 cassette has been updated with a trickanodized aluminum lockring and spider that shaves grams over previous setups. The cogs are blast chrome plated for a durable, attractive finish.

Works great with SRAM drivetrains, of course, but also totally compatible withShimano 9sp equipment, so they're a great upgrade for any 9 speed bike on themarket.

The SRAM PG-990 Cassette employs a CNC-machined aluminum spider to carry the six largest cogs. Successfully reducing rotational weight over full steel cassettes, the PG-990 accelerates faster, and saves energy for end-of-ride sprints to frosty recovery beverages. PowerGlide II technology uses tooth profiling and shift-ramp designs to provide positive, responsive shifts.

saved my hub

Rating:*****

If you have an aluminum cassette body on your hub you need a cassette like this one. it has a large aluminum hub that the larger gears are riveted to. This keeps the weight down and not having individual rings keeps it from cutting little slots into your expensive cassette body.

The wear is pretty good on these too. I have had one on my AM bike for over a year and it is still pretty decent considering the abuse I have given it.
