Great safe for the size and money

| If your collection is starting to grow, this is the safe for you. I began looking at cabinets and the 8-10 capacity safes. But after being able to see the difference in person I realized that one shelf is worthless if you plan on storing more then rifles and shotguns. This safe not only provides me with the space for my long guns, but two shelves for handguns and pistols. Two more additional shelves for gold and papers, and then some more space for close to 5000 misc rounds. When I began looking I realized the cons of the smaller sizes were inner space, the structure itself, and the weight. The weight of this safe is 255 pounds, and was able to fit in the back of a ford escape. My friend and I backed the car into the garage, and had it out in less then 1 minute. When mounted to the wall and floor good luck getting this out. After installing the safe I felt confident this was something that a thief would have to work at to get open. As far as a professional, I seriously doubt they will be breaking into my house. And if you are worrying about it, you are probably rich enough to buy a fancy safe. Overall, the biggest draw about this safe is that it only has one lock, no back-up key. But if you are thinking about spending $250.00-$350.00, spend the extra $50.00 bucks and buy this safe. [...] But if you get it in person you get to inspect it in person. Yes I would recommend this to a friend and for only [$] it is worth it. | |

Good budget security cabinet

| This is a good value, so long as you have reasonable expectations. I only expect this 'safe' to keep honest people and children from accessing its contents, and I think it will have no problem doing this. I like that it is heavy enough to prevent a single person from walking out with it, but light enough that I can move it, as I frequently move into small apartments. With kids around and no ability to afford a genuine safe, I wanted a nice-looking locking metal box for my firearms and accessories, and this fit the bill. I should also note that mine is black/white, which I think is much better looking than the green/gold. The interior was suprisingly nice, and it is spacious compared to everything else I found in the $400 price range. This product was exactly what I was looking for, and will meet my needs until I can afford a real safe. I compared all sorts of sub-$500 options before selecting this one, and am very satisfied with my choice. If I could change anything about it, I would ask for a key backup, because in all honesty I have little expectation that the combo lock will provide years of trouble-free service. I would guess that after a few thousand openings, it will start to have problems. (I have no real basis for that judgement, I'm just skeptical about it) | |

Great safe for the money

| [...]The safe itself is pretty heavy, I had to take the door off to get it upstairs by myself. The locking mechanism is solid, but the door itself looks like I could break into the corner with a crowbar. Although, once I got the corner pried open, I don't know what I would do after that. I am certain that given an hour or 2 and a saw, I could destroy this thing. This is not the safe to keep your stuff from getting stolen by a pro, but it will keep the snatch and grab thieves from delving into it. Also, it keeps anyone who is in your home (pest control, carpet cleaning, etc.) unable to get direct access to your firearms.Overall, I live in a good neighborhood where no one has gotten broken into and I am not that worried about it. However, I could never forgive myself if someone broke in, stole a gun, and killed an innocent person with it. If you want rock solid protection, this is not it. If you want a step above a gun cabinet that bolts into the wall and has pretty good locks, this is the best thing out there for the price. | |

Does the job | |

| The wood center structure allows for remounting the holding mount lower to accommodate smaller assault rifles. The shelf holding clamps constantly fall off when attempting to mount the shelves for the first time. You will need the scope mounts for most rifles/shotguns regardless if they have a scope. The combination lock is low quality. Safe cracking would take up to two hours, the lock will give up two of the numbers along with six spoofed numbers. Thankfully safe cracking methods found on the internet are incorrect. I recommend mounting this item to the wall, it is light enough for two people to pick up and walk out with it. Do not use it for storing cash or gold. I am satisfied with this item and would recommend it for anyone with ten or less guns. You will need the shelves for ammo and other items. | |

Good Value | |

| The safe is a great value. You can say it is not a Bank quality safe, but for a person of modest means it does fill the bill. I am very gentle with the combo lock to extend life as long as possible. But face it: if a pro hits ANY home safe, you are done. I am not planning on a fire in my home but if there is one I have insurance. Very few home safes can really sustain the temperatures and time involved in a fire anyway. | |

Great Value for the Price

| Great value, plenty of room. My only complaint is that you can not change the combination for the lock, and are stuck with the original manufacture set combo. This safe also comes with the hardware needed to secure it to your floor or wall. | |
