Easy to use, not as heavy as some say

Bought this climber last week and had a chance to test it out up in Maine. I found it very easy to use and actually quite light despite the steel frame. For the money, can't beat it. I could see where some people might find it heavy, but I also carried my 3 year old who weighs 35 lbs up a mountain on my shoulders for 2 miles and this stand is no challenge compared to that. I also found it quiet as long as you think about what you are doing when setting it up and climbing. It is silent once up and in the stand.

Feels safe for a 50 yr old female hunter

I like it, would rather feel safe and comforable and carry a little more weight. Its a bit more combersome for the bow, but it still works even if the front don't move up. When you are 25/30 feet up in stand you want a stand to not slip, with any little move and the quitness is qreat for long sits. I can handle it as for as the weight as long as it holds up it part of the bargain, ME! I don't like safty harness.

Typical Summit stand

Purchased this stand for bow season. carrying straps are better than my older model, but still a little uncomfortable for really long hauls. Stirrups work, but being plastic, I wonder how long they will last. Putting it together was a breeze, and it climbs well. I noticed absolutely no creaks in this stand, my older Summit needed some help in that category. The seat is better, but gets a little uncomfortable. All in all a really good buy for the money.

Hunting Virginia

Originally had hunted in a ground blind and purchased the Summit Vipler Classic climber yesterday at Dicks. Climber was assembled and I was in the tree for the afternoon hunt. I am quite pleased with this climber, yes it is constructed of steel and weighs 27 lbs., but the price was within my budget. Very stable in the tree and the harness is quite heavy duty. Overall I am quite pleases with the purchase, price and qulaity. Happy Hunting!

Read All of the info!

The listing for this stand is contradictory.
Headline says it weighs 20 lbs, but the description gives the weight as 26 lbs. This is the SS version, NOT the aluminum model, so it weighs more than the 20lb weight of the aluminum model. If one accepts the weight, this is one of the best designed stands I have used in my 50+ years of hunting. It is quiet comfortable and secure once in place.

Summit Viper Classic

Solid, quiet and stable. Terrific tree stand.
See a lot of weight comments, but I never took the time to weigh mine. My 13 year old humps his to the woods and back just fine. This stand feels no heavier than any other, in fact it rides on your back pretty comfortably.

good stand; poor assembly instructions

Those that complained that 30lbs is heavy are wimps or are really out of shape. Try carrying 70lb treee stands! I only weigh 155 and this thing is a piece of cake to carry half a mile.

False Advertisement

I drove an hour one way to get to my local Dick's to buy this stand after seeing it online. I thought I was getting a 20lb stand because that's what the listing online says. Once I returned home from my hour drive back home I realized this stand is much heavier than the 20lbs weighing in at 30lbs. The reason I was interested in this stand was for the weight as I walk about a mile back in the woods to hunt and the extra 10lbs will really add up. I have personally never seen a stand that weigh so much what a rip-off.

false advertise

The Summit Viper SS is the one that weight 20 lbs, this one weight 30 lbs. To me, thats a big difference when you have to wallk up a big hill 400 yards in the woods.

The noisiest stand i've every used.

This stand was very noisy to use in the field. When you stood up, the stand would creak loud, very loud! I called Summit's customer service three times and was never called back once.

ok stand

The stand is not 20 pounds it is 29 pounds big differnce. I didnt really like how the blind attached they should have built in the rail pad where you could just un zip it and drop the blind down. I thought the stand was goiing to made out of aluminum but its not its steal. Over all ok stand if your not toteing it far.

Heavy!

This is a well built stand, but it is made out of steel, not aluminum. Only sold through Dick's. Won't find it on Summit's web site. The back pack strap is not stong enough for this stand. It's a great stand if you don't have far to walk. Advertised weight is wrong. This is a Viper SS made out of steel.

Nice stand but not what advertised.

Easy assembly, quiet and durable, but not what they display. Says it has a flip up gun rail. Mine did not come with that.
