Suunto Core -

The award-winning Suunto Core gathers a range of data to help you navigate your way through the wilder parts of the world. Altimeter The altimeter features a range up to 9000m (29 500 ft). It is ideally suited for all activities where knowing your altitude and ascent and descent rates is essential. The Core altimeter sports an altitude difference measurement that allows you to track your progress in terms of altitude climbed. The log recorder stores all your movements in altitude between the start and stop times, so you can re-live your trip at home - view graphs of changes in altitude during your treks, find out how much you climbed, the duration of ascents and descents, average ascent and descent speed and more. Barometer Suunto Core displays the current sea level pressure as a detailed graph, showing recording of the last 24 hours with a recording interval of 30 minutes. The weather trend indicator is a useful feature providing quick reference to check upcoming weather conditions. The storm alarm notifies you of a sudden drop in air pressure, which may be related to worsening weather conditions. Automatic Alti/Baro switch Suunto Core sports an Automatic Alti/Baro switch, a smart feature that senses your movement or lack thereof, switching between altimeter and barometer accordingly. When you’re climbing, it records changes in elevation. And when you stop to rest, it records changes in barometric pressure. A drop in air pressure while you’re sleeping under the stars will be recorded for what it really is: a change in barometric pressure, not altitude Compass The digital compass displays the cardinal or half-cardinal point and the North. The declination adjustment function allows you to correct the difference between the true North and magnetic North. You can also set it to track a certain bearing, which helps you follow a chosen direction in the terrain. The compass features a rotating bezel for traditional use (most variants), or a one-touch function that allows you to sight lock and follow a bearing. Depth meter Intended for snorkeling, the Suunto Core depth meter provides information on current depth and the maximum depth reached during your snorkeling dive. The maximum depth of the device is 10m (32,8 ft). Watch Watch functions include time, dual time, date, alarm, sports chronograph, countdown timer and predicted times for sunrise and sunset for over 400 locations worldwide. Suunto Core is available in a range of styles and materials.

Good General Purpose Instrument

I wear it every day for the usual watch functions. I have been a Vector owner for years, and I am impressed with the improvements found in the Core. While it is still a big watch, it has a much lower profile and the buttons are easy to use with a more positive feel. The greater number of functions are organized into fewer (three) categories compared to the Vector. As a free diver and spearfisherman, I appreciate the depth gauge with its maximum depth and log functions. Though it only measures to a depth of ten meters, it is enough for 95% of my dives. Anyone who goes afield values the compass function - you can't have too many compasses.

Great Watch!

The Suunto Core is a great watch. It's gives me a lot of key information in easy to use (and customizable) menus, and looks great. The altimeter/barometer function work really well and are useful in monitoring weather trends. I really like the X-Black color; all black face with lighter numbers. I also like the fact that it is a little bit smaller than there Vector series, so it doesn't look like you have a major piece of equipment weighing down your arm. I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who is looking for a functional, good looking outdoor instrument.

I ordered the Suunto Core Regular black watch for a motorcycle trip I was taking throughout Vietnam. The watch worked great. As a photographer and videographer I appreciated the large and distinct font type. I often relied on being able to take pictures of the altitude and heading on the watch and used them as markers in my image series. The watch went through massive rains, constant g shock and high sun exposure and everything works great and looks great. Highly recommend this watch.

Ideal adventurer's watch

I had been looking for a watch with a compass and altimeter that would also be pretty impact-resistant. The truly impact-resistant military watches tend not to have the other features, so I went for this as the best compromise. So far, no complaints about the features, and the weather trend indicator is a nice plus I notice myself using a lot.

The standard display could be a notch brighter, but it's not really a problem.

Love the altimeter

I love the core, mostly because it's fun to see the altitude as you travel to different places. I take it skiing and I'm always interested in altitude; you can also turn on storm warnings and it'll alert you to swings in pressure. I like the military black version because honestly it looks cool, but it's also great in high-glare situations like skiing.

I ordered this watch to replace my old Timex Iron Man watch, and I couldn't be happier. The display is large and clear, its easy to use, and it looks cool. I've gotten several compliments on it. It has a high quality feel to it. I am happy with the purchase.

This is nice and lightweight, with good sized face. It has not scratched up yet after a month of use. The altimeter has much less drift than Nike Oregon/Livestrong watches did. It sits with lower profile to the wrist as well. Overall I am very happy with this watch.

Best watch Ive ever had!

Great unit all the way! Rock solid band and very comfortable. Great feature set, and it has proved itself thus far regarding functionality and precision. Easy to use.

Just what I wanted

The watch had all of the parts that were suppose to come with it. Just what we expected.

Love how this watch looks. Has nice features, but I never learned to use them.

Neutral Reviews:

Features are awesome and the look is great. If you need a watch to be water resistant...find another one. This one can't make it thought a shower working. If I didn't like it so much, I would return it.
