Suunto PC Pod

Rating:****

This goes along nicely with my Suunto T3 to help track my gym workouts. The device is EXTREMELY small. I can see myself pulling my hair out trying to find where I set it down last. PC Pod plugs into the USB port with only about an inch or so remaining. Entire device is dull black in color, so it blends in well to hide its self. How can something so small cost $99.00. Range for downloading from the watch is about 3 feet. Somewhat longer range if you link it to your hear rate monitor belt. Device seems to be very dependent on "line of sight" for the connection to work properly. Doesn't take much to drop the connection if you move something between the PC Pod and the watch/belt. Other than these minor issues, device works as stated. Overall, I am happy with the unit.

"Needed to complete your t3/t4, but it should be less expensive"

Rating:****
The PC Pod is a great complement to your Suunto t3 or t4. It allows you to download and track your workouts on your computer. Your watch will store up to 15 workouts, but it is tedious to review your work out on the watch. On the computer you can see all of your work outs, total them by time period, and other features. The only negative is that I think the price it too expensive. Given how much it enhances your watch and that you spent a good sum of money on the Suunto watch and pods, Suunto should price this little USB device around 50 .

"If you need to analyze your training data with a t3/4 then you really have no other choice, do you?"

Rating:****
If you like to track you training progress and analyze data to help you reach your goals then this is a must have to complement your t3 or t4 watch. The only problem is the watch doesn't store HR trends so you won't be able to analyze your workouts in graph format but if you use it indoors near your computer on a treadmill or something of the like then you could track every single heart beat.

Tiny, expensive, but you need it - If you've invested any amount of money into a compatible Suunto watch + heart rate monitor/foot pod/gps pod/bike pod/etc... then you really have to get this item. Viewing your workout data on the watch is kind of futile, and the software and data analysis included with the PC pod are awesome for tracking and improving your workouts. My only gripe is that it's pricey and it's tiny!

Suunto PC POD is the bomb

Rating:*****

After having bought the Suunto T3 and GPS POD, this PC POD completes the program. This puts into a visual tool the results of your hard work and helps the user know what areas to improve on.

Great STEALTHY unit. I've overlooked it many times. You should mark it brightly to find it easier. Other than that, the unit works great. I am very happy with the unit

Negative Reviews:

More problematic than ...

Rating:*

Well I couldn't think of anything more problematic: the install of the software took over an hour; after trying to install all of the various patches and hot fixes, the thing still fails to connect. Their web page has little useful information on corrections, and without the stellar (seriously the best ever) help from Backcountry.com, I don't think I would have a chance of fixing this.

"Not what I expected"

If you want a way to save and track your workouts performed with your T3/T4 then this is a handy little tool. However, you will not get a graph of your HR or speed over the duration of the workout. The T3/T4 does not store this information. A better alternative might be the Smartbelt. The smartbelt records your HR information independently of the T3/T4, that you can then download to a PC.
