Great Watch. What I dreamed of.

Rating:*****

On the Mountain: It does automatic run counts and distance during the day so it does what my old Avocet does. The max descent rate is harder to get though.
On the Laptop: The data logging is great.
The Windows App is OK and you can export to a datafile for linux use but it is a little bit hard to use. Selecting logs is unintuitive (it doesn't follow the Windows look and feel at all). But the graphs and statistics are great. You get vertical distance and time riding the lifts, sliding down the hill and waiting in queues or having lunch.
I REALLY recommend you set the altitude at the start of the date before you start the logging. The PC app doesn't let you delete bad samples so this can be a real pain.
Also if you use the PC app at the mountain away from your home network and you get an 'access denied' message - try deleting a network printer. It worked for me after much debugging in a house up the mountain in a semi drunken state.

Light and easy

Rating:*****

I have had a Suunto for many years and only recently discovered this strap. The stock plastic strap always kinda bugged me - not sure why. I think it was the fact it was way too long and I could never get the fit right. Always too loose or too tight. I like this strap much better. It's lighter (for all you fanatical ounce counters) and it adjusts much easier. Therefore, making it much more comfy. As any climber knows, your wrist changes size with altitude and this strap is so much easier to adjust for that. And although I haven't needed to, if it got caught during a climb, you can simply rip it off. If you use your Suunto as much as I use mine - this is a very good investment. You won't regret it.

Nylon band for Sunnto

Rating:****

Looks great on my Vector. I got a yellow band to match yellow watch. I have smaller hands for a guy, so the band slips over my hand without having to pull the strap completely out of one side of watch. It is kind of hard to thread the band back through retaining clip, but I only had to do that once(when I first installed band). It is more comfortable than the rubber band as it has infinite adjustment. It washes clean in the sink with mild soap.

Suunto Watch Band

Rating:*****

It is better than the rubber watchbands that come with the Suunto. Also, the fabric of the band does not itch during normal wear or during exercise when sweating. Finally, the green design band matches the green face of my Vector watch and gives it a slightly more dressy appearance. I recommend this band to anyone looking for an improvement over the Vector default watchband.

Good Product - Great Service/Company

Rating:****

Fairly colorful (I got a yellow one) and quite functional Velcro band replacement for Suunto's rubber, bulky watch band. I loosened and sewed back the color band to make it a little longer so the color would show more on the other side of the wrist.

Dealing with Backcountry.com was excellent. Top quality folks with my little transaction.

Thanks Backcountry.com.

Great fit

Rating:****

I always wanted to get a strap that fit better than the stock one. This one is great, good construction and sturdy. The only downfall is that its a bit stiff when new. Gonna have to wear it a while and loosen up the velcro.

Just Fine

Rating:****

This band is comfortable and light weight. It was easy to put on the watch, however the kit doesn't come with pins and we had lost ours so we used paper clips instead, and it still worked just fine... Good band over all...

Nice Upgrade

Rating:****

Nice upgrade to the plastic band. More comfortable & infinite adjustment. The plastic band used to make me sweat a lot.

Negative Reviews:

does not solve the problem

Rating:**

The standard Vector strap is too short to wear the watch over the parka sleeve, so I expected the velcro version would allow more room. In reality velcro strap is the same size as the standard plastic one. It's more comfortable, but it does not let me wear the tool where I can see it without digging thru layers of clothes! And given that Vector is a quite bit bulkier than my previous altimeter, wearing it under the layers is prominently uncomfortable.

Velcro Strap - Too short

Rating:**

The functionality of the velcro strap is fine - as long as one has very small wrists. Otherwise the length of strap provided make kthe band fit very tightly - to the point of discomfort.

The could be solved by simply adding another inch or so of the "fuzzy" velcro to the strap.

The band works find - just very uncomfortable for those of us with average to larger size wrists.

I ordered this Suunto watchband to replace one that was sewn incorrectly. Now, after a month, this band is starting to come apart. When you own a high quality expensive watch, you would expect that the watchband would have the same quality.

Suunto Watch Band Replacement

Rating:***

The Suunto replacement watch band is a definite improvement over the bulky "rubber band" that came with my wrist altimeter and computer. The hook and loop closure (felt) on the replacement band could be about an inch longer so the band would be more secure on my wrist. My wrist isn't abnormally large and it seems this band was designed for children or people with small wrists. That being said, it also took about a week to break in the band so the edges of the nylon no longer chafed the top of my wrist just below the watch.

khouser at Backcountry.com on 03/10/2005

Measure your wrist first.

Rating:***

I thought other reviews were exaggerating how small this strap is, but they were not. At its loosest point this strap is about 7" in circumference. That leaves it just enough length to barely attach the Velcro ends. I am currently wearing it on a Suunto X-Lander. I would much rather use the original strap, but it broke after a couple years of wear. I would not substitute an original strap for this one if I did not have to.

So-So replacement band

Rating:***

It's alright. Better than the stock band which has a tendency to come loose and the strap stick out - drives me nuts. It is pretty comfortable, but not as comfy as the elastic band I have now. I like the color options you have w/ the VELCRO, but they are maybe even narrower than the stock band? Big watch looks funny with thin band. If you can't decide between VELCRO and elastic - get the elastic.

I wish it fit my watch...

Rating:***

I got this watch band to go with my X6 HRM. The website listed several watches with which the band was incompatible. It didn't include the X6 HRM...so I ordered this band. Unfortunately, I got the band and quickly noticed it would not work. My recommendation to X6 users is to get an EK USA VELCRO® band instead.

Poor Quality Band

Rating:***

After the first few days of wearing the watch band, all the lettering on the side that said SUUNTO came off. Seems to me that some improvements need to be made. It's not a big deal, but I was surprised. Otherwide, the band works well with the watch.

Watch Band

Rating:***

It was a replacement when I needed one in a bad way. The lugs are great - the hook and loop closure - I am getting used to. Big change from the original band. Would be interested in the original's replacement... Old habits in all.

Not quite right for the S6

Rating:***

The S6 has a different mounting mechanism so this strap doesn't quite fit very well. (I feel nervous trusting my watch to it).
