Backcountry.com Outlet

Don't let plummeting temps, cold winds, and falling snow send you to the ski lodge. Pull on The North Face Men's Chronicle Down Jacket and ride out the storm in comfort. The North Face stuffed the military-style Chronicle with 600-fill down and wrapped it in waterproof fabric to protect you from wet, bone-chilling weather. Fully sealed seams and an adjustable insulated hood keep water out and warmth in, while pit vents allow you to cool down after a hard run. The Chronicle’s powder skirt attaches to your ski pants with The North Face’s Pant-a-lock system to create an impenetrable fortress against the cold. Tons of pockets give you space for all your extra gear and a RECCO reflector helps ski patrol find you at equipped resorts.

Defining "so diesel"

Rating:*****
I was a bit hesitant at first when the only review at the time was a duplicate review from another jacket which claimed this jacket as "so diesel". I assume that's supposed to be a good thing but figured it was just the website trying to get me to buy their stuff. Anyhoo, I went for it based on the stats which matched what I was looking for. I finally got to give it a field run skiing at Sugarbowl in CA. It was 18 degrees out w/ strong, gusty winds over 30mph. I was snug and warm with a long sleeve T underneath. I'm 5'8", 160lbs, bought a medium. I'm incredibly pleased. If I absolutely had to voice a complaint, the powder skirt rode up a bit which I think it can attach to my pants but I was too stoked on a great day of fresh turns in the sun to stop and tinker with it. I now understand what "so diesel" means...

Top product

Rating:*****
I bought this jacket for 2008 season in the green shown in the photo i attached. It's pretty damn fine i'd say, and i'd recommend to anyone looking for a quality waterproof and very warm jacket. Surprisingly it's not too warm either on warmer days (with less layering underneath). I've used it in -20 C temps in BC and summer skiing in Saas Fee in Switzerland the other week, I liked it so much i bought another in the Blue Aster Colour above with some park cargo long leg length pants to go with it as i already have in green. Really top quality gear, recommended. Even better if you can git it on sale from BC.com

Recommended if it fits

Rating:***
I purchased this jacket based on the description and bright color. The color is spectacular and the jacket has tremendous pockets and pocket placement. It appears to be built for heavy weather. Unfortunately, it also appears to be built for someone who is wide in the waist and narrow in the shoulders. I had to send it back for that reason.
