| Unexpected - A sales person at The North Face store recommended this shoe for longer trail runs with heavier loads. As I've been putting on more miles at once recently I decided to give them a try. They have a stiff sole, come with a good insert, but I have super feet greens in them right now. The uppers are mesh and breathe well. Not the best looking shoe, but when I tried them on I was sold. TNF shoes usually are too tight in the toe box for my foot - not these. Whereas my feet got tired after 10 miles in Teva X1s, I did nearly 20 miles with a 14# lumbar pack on in this last weekend in the Santa Monica Mountains with no discomfort at all. I can feel enough through them to get good footing and light enough that feel good running in them. In August I'm taking them on a road trip to Idaho with me. I'll be using them in Zion Nat Park as well as when I get to Idaho. I ordered a 2nd pair through Zappos just to have. | |
