Much Improved The Good & Bad
| Rating: | ![]() |
The Good -better heavy duty lacing system, shaft seems higher, can get them nice and snug. Haven't been in the backcountry to fully review them yet.The Bad-the insoles have changed for the worse. They are not a tick or supportive in the arch as last years model.Spoke to NorthFace regarding this. There reason for lesser of an insole this year was to make the boot more neutral for a wider range of feet. Tried to get a pair of insoles from last years model from TNF,were not available. So I just took my insoles from last year and are using them. They really take up a lot more of the inner boot space. Yes, I would recommend them. BackCountry's C/S unbeatable. Shame other companies don't model themselves after them.

| I did extensive research on the latest snow boots on the market this year, and I decided to purchase the North Face Four Shadows GTX Snow Boot. It is very a lightweight, comfortable, and superbly waterproof boot. North Face has used the latest technology in designing and manufacturing this boot. The price is very reasonable, as well. I purchased two pairs of the GTX, and I would highly recommend them to anyone who is sincerely interested in wearing a truly waterproof snow boot that also incorporates style, and will stand the test of time. | Bought these just in time for Winter and I'm glad I did. They are both warm and comfortable. I was really surprised by how light they are, too. The boots have proven themselves useful both on the trail and around the house. My only objection, and it is rather small, is that the boot comes really high up on the ankle and cuts down movement of the ankle itself. I understand it can help prevent rolling one's ankle but it can, at times, feel too restricting. | |

| Spent a lot of time looking for a replacement snow boot last year as my old Sorrels were failing. The quality of workmanship, insulation, fit, and soles are better than I thought was possible. I'm looking forward to some good cold weather and snow to get out in this winter as there are a lot of fun things to do outside here. | |

| The North Face Men's Four Shadows GTX® I purchased these for my husband who works in Minnesota...he had taken a couple of falls on the ice over the past year, and concerned for his health, did some research and decided on these boots. He LOVES them! While they are a little expensive, we feel they are well worth the money! | |

These boots are great. Light, warm and great traction. Seem to run a little large, but nothing a spare pair of insoles couldn't take care of. Would highly recommend. A much needed improvement over my very old Sorrells. Still not sure why NF footware has such long laces.

| I love this boot! After a season of hiking, and snowshoeing in the Adirondacks, I never once had cold feet. They grip well, and are very warm without being over insulated. Everything you need with nothing you don't. Perfect. | |

| Great hiking/snow boot - These boots fit great right out of the box, same shoe size, Im using them for snow shoveling and hiking in the winter, great look, very light, I would reccommend to anyone. | |

Nice boot. Ready to hit the road out of the box.

| I suggest buy 1/2 size larger than you normally wear. It has plenty of room but a little short of true size. Really nice boot and I use them for walking on sub freezing morning. | |

| Stiff Pronation - Just got these in the mail. Out of the box felt very light and looked good. Put them on, different story. The shoe itself pronated (rolled in) and the toe box was narrow. The upper part of the boot was very stiff. Love Zappos, not these boots. Going to try Baffin. | |

seem ot be a good boot. kind of expensive. they run pretty much true to size, which is kind of bad for wearing thicker socks. went with a half size larger and just dont fit quite right. A person is better to stick to your true size. Warm boot, but not quite the water proof as rubber, but they do breathe a lot better than rubber, so i guess consider what you are doing.

| This boot was great until I got on the runners of a dogsled. The nylon on the top of the foot allows wind to cut right through and my feet were frozen in no time. It was 20 degrees out when I was running dogs. Warm feet at that temp with a light boot is reasonable. What a shame. If I were snowshoeing or walking, they would be fine. | |
