MEN'S FREEDOM INSULATED PANTS

Hands down, these are great pants. The fit is incredible. I would wear them to bed if I could, they are that comfy. I kid you not. I am 6'4" and have big thighs and normally wear a 42x32 in jeans. I ordered a xxl (after looking at the fairly accurate size chart) and the fit is perfect. These are a true xxl pant. These other companies' xxl are what an xl should be, maybe they don't like big people? With TNF that is not the case. Whatever your size, they got the fit! I purchased these for winter mountain adventures and snowboarding. In one of the pockets there is a little clasp on a bungee which is the perfect place to attach a lift ticket. I wish they had it in the pics because I think it is an asset to the design of the pants. Also, when you are out in the cold without your gloves and need a warm place for the hands, just stick them in lined front pockets and they will heat up right quick from the special lining. The cargo pocket has pefect placement. Some companies put the cargo pocket too high or too low, but the placement is just right. At first I didn't think they'd keep my legs warm, but after their initial run in the snow, I can see that there is an incredible amount of technology that has gone into them. Needless to say, they keep you warm for sure. And when the temperature warms up, just open the vents and you are good to go. My one small qualm is that there are no butt pockets. I prefer to keep my wallet in a butt pocket, but in the totality of circumstances, it really isn't a big deal. Overall incredible pants! Kudos TNF!
P.S. I wish you guys made jeans.

Great pants, especially for the price

I'm an avid skier and spend a lot of time on the snow and have probably gotten about 25-27 days in with these pants so far. I have yet to be disappointed with the performance. I've actually only needed to wear a base layer on bitterly cold days. Most of the time, I get away with wearing gym shorts underneath them. The leg vents are quite large and great for warmer days. The leg pocket is handy for keeping trail maps, a set of thin glove liners, or whatever else you can think of. The pants have been waterproof and generally windproof (more on that later). As far as sizing goes, I'm 6'0, 205 lbs (34 waist) and bought a large. I might have been able to fit into a medium, but I prefer a baggier look with more room. The legs are a little long and sometimes get caught in my ski binding, but its a minor annoyance. As for the windproofing, I have only noticed the wind on particularly winy days. One of the reasons for that is that the zippers are not taped. While there is a flap of material covering the leg vent zippers, you'll still notice a little bit of a draft coming through on windy days. It's not a big deal, but it is something I noticed.

Great pants with one annoying con

I'm a 6'4" 180lbs guy and bought the asphalt gray pants size L in long. I usually wear 33/34 waist and size L of these fits me just right. There isn't much room to tighten the adjustable waist velcros so if you are any bigger than me go with size XL. these pants have the free fit which is the second on TNFs fit scale (where 1 is closer to the body and 4 is relaxed). I was looking for a slimmer more fitted look but TNF doesn'tseem to have pants in their slimmer 'athlete' fit. Zippers, seams, vents are all solid. The cargo pocket is handy yet somehow stylish. The vent zippers do a great job of letting extra heat out. The only con is the inside of the side pockets - it's made of soft material of the kind that will always catch your hang nails - its very annoying, other brands use brushed fleece that does have this problem.

Incredibly warm and comfortable

Used these in Colorado for 5 days of skiing. First 3 days were warmer and no snow fell, but these weren't too warm and they also have vents incase you do get too hot. The last 2 days were storm days that snowed non-stop, and there was no sunlight. I had underwear and one, thin baselayer on and never even got close to cold in them. It didn't matter if I fell, or even layed in the snow waiting on friends, these things were perfect. I could have probably done without the baselayer and still felt nothing. They have a very-well placed pocket on the right leg that I used almost every day. The front pockets are a little difficult to get into, especially when you have gloves on, but nothing too bad.

Bought a pair for dad and brothers. Became instant hero...

I did not have a pair of good winter / snow pants because never wanted to spend the money. After being turned into an ice pop snow blowing the driveway I decided I had enough.End up buying North Face Freedom's and discovered these pants are ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!! They are like having body armor (from the waist down) that keep you dry and warm. It doesn't matter if it is below 0 and a full-blown blizzard. You can throw them over your jeans or even wear them commando since they are insulated. My favorite thing is taking them off when you come back inside. Just hang them up and BAM!!! Dry as a bone and ready to go the next time you need them.Final Verdict: 3 Thumbs Way Up!!!

Great Snow Pants

I purchased these pants in mind,to using them for ski-mobiling. Since then I have used them in all the elements, Ice fishing sledding and snowboarding. I live in Upper Maine, These pants are remarkable they break the wind when fishing on the large lakes I did not get feel the elements. Sledding with the kids no issues I'm the one still dry! lol. As far as Skimobiling I am a pretty aggresive rider and I would recommend thes to any one. Several of my friends and club members have asked about them I hope they take the iniative to purchase them due to they are far less expensive as riding bibs, and are much more comfortable.. Excellent pair of pants...

Perfect Ski Pants For A 6'8" Cornice-Jumping Expert Skier

Got these ski pants for my husband this Christmas and I am the total star. Husband wanted Gore Tex ski pants for the waterproofness but I decided to give these to him anyway (even though I went ahead and got the Gore Tex ones, too) as it's not often he finds pants that fit his 6'8" frame with quads that are muscular from basketball, tennis, and Telemarking. He used these in our last week-long ski trip and decided *these* were his everyday, all-the-time ski pants and that the Gore Tex ones will only see a ski hill when it's going to be a particularly wet ski day. Comfort, warmth and all-around fit made this an excellent choice. Thanks, Moosejaw!

Freedom Pant - Sizing

These are great quality, but my gripe is that the sizing runs small at the waist. I wear a 34" waist with jeans, and they tend to be just a tiny bit loose. These pants in a M say they're for 32-34, but I could barely snap them closed. I'll be returning them and buying a large waist. If you're wearing snow pants with more than a thin baselayer, you'll want the room and I would suggest ordering a size up, as they have and adjustable elastic waistband to snug them up. Other than that, they seem very warm, well made, and durable. I wouldn't hesitate to order them, with the caveat of the sizing issue.
JDRcity at The North Face on 12/06/2012

Almost Perfect!

I've used these pants ice fishing, 4 wheeling and hiking (see submitted pictures) These pants are waterproof and warm as claimed in the product description. The material is extremely durable and has held up to a repeated abuse/ abrasions form sliding around on the ice and snow not to mention fishing hooks. The only con is the lack of a boot zipper. I find that I have to put these pants on prior to putting on my boots and subsequently have to take my boots off before I'm able to remove the pants. Regardless, I am extremely please with there fit and performance.

Ski Pants

I bought these pants for skiing at Monarch and through out Summit and Eagle County in Colorado. It does get cold here. I was a bit worried at first. These pants for the price is on the lower/cheaper side of the North Face scale. And you know what they say, you get what you pay for. However, that is not the case. These pants are Awesome. North Face has finally put together an affordable durable, warm ski pant . Read the reviews, all is true. I would highly recommend these ski pants. Only one comment, put some pockets on the butt.
Shredder at The North Face on 02/04/2012

Negative Reviews:

Not for cold weather

Purchased a pair of the NorthFace insulated pants and found them to be suited for weather above 32 at best. I found them to be too warm for summer use and insufficient for late fall/winter use. Returned them for full refund.
