If you're headed out into the heat for a longer run or bike ride, you'll need water, a lot of energy, and a lightweight pack like the Hammerhead hydration pack from The North Face. You'll have plenty of room for H2O with the 100 ounce Nalgene reservoir that sports dual over-the-shoulder hydration routing while you run or ride in comfort with an X-Vent back panel that increases airflow between you and the pack.
Hit the trail with the voracity of a shark on its prey with the Hammerhead Hydration pack form The North Face that keeps you well hydrated with a 100-oz Nalgene reservoir while weighing little more than a pound. Stow all of the gear you'll need, from extra clothes and food to your electronics in the two compartments with internal organizers and a stash sleeve while you drink with ease through the articulated magnetic bite valve.

When you've brought one layer more for insurance, the midsized North Face Hammerhead Hydration Backpack has a convenient back bungee stash for quick access. You could stuff it in the large main compartment or secondary compartment that has a front stash sleeve, try to slip it in between the internal organizer, or even stick it in the generous side stretch woven pockets, but the bungee is where it belongs. Oh, and you could also take out the 100-ounce reservoir 100-oz Nalgene® reservoir to make room there, but you wouldn't want to leave home without liquid just for another layer, or would you?

The North Face gave the Hammerhead Hydration Pack a three-liter Nalgene reservoir and over-the-shoulder hydration system to ensure you stay hydrated while you run the trails. The X-Vent mesh back panel system and Airmesh shoulder harness keep you cool when you work up a sweat, and the large main compartment stashes your extra layers. Store your energy bar and MP3 in the small front pocket, and carry your extra cargo in the side stretch pockets. The removable waist belt allows you to customize the fit for your activity.

Excellent Day Pack | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I researched day packs quite a bit and am glad I bought this one. It is about the perfect size for day hikes, including for the entire day -- everything fits, including maps, sandwiches, rain jacket, sweat shirt and misc items. Previously, I seldom carried more than 2 litres for the day (usually going 6 - 9 miles) but I find with this pack I drink more water because it is so easily accessible, which is probably healthy. I had never before used a hydration bladder, but now cannot imagine not using one. Also, the Hammerhead is a longish and narrow pack so, unlike other day packs, you can use the waist belt to cary weight on your waist (toher seems to strap across my mid-stomach area). This not only makes the pack light but you can then loosen the shoulder straps and have a nice vent space on your back, so it feels light and doesn't get hot. I love this pack and would highly recommend it. Personally, I find the e-vap back to be a bit of a gimmick, but for other reasons (mentioned above) it works well in hot weather. Highly recommended! | |

Typical North Face Quality
| Rating: | ![]() |
| This is a dynamite little hydration daypack. It holds a whopping 3 liters of your favorite liquid (mine is Accelerade)and the reservoir is easy to clean. Lots of space for all your daytrip needs with plenty of well thought out compartments and pockets for storage. Typical North Face product in that it's well designed and well made. The E-VAP back and shoulder harnesses are a top notch touch! This pack should last for years to come. One way to improve this pack is to put on a beefier waist belt; the flimsy 1" belt betrays the North Face quality a bit. How about a 1/12' or 2" padded belt? | |

No complaints! | |

| My wife and kids gave the hammerhead hydration backpack to me for fathers day, we immediatly hit the trail that afternoon with a full load of water and equipment loaded in the generous storage compartments. After four hours on the trail in mid June central Florida whether, the six of us had drained the pack dry. What a relief to be able to hike with kids and not hear the complaints about haveing to carry thier own water bottle! This is a great day pack that is easy on the back, and the budget. I highly reccomend this top quality North Face product. | |

Agree with hose problem
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I've had this pack for over a year and the hose will not stay connected unless you're staying still. Forget running or any rough hiking with it unless you have a different bladder in it. TNF should really address this problem. Other than that, the rest of the pack is comfortable and roomy and light. | |

"Cream of the Crop" | |

| After thoroughly looking at similar packs from Camelback I chose the North Face. The reservoir is much easier to remove the pack and clean. Also, the overall design is great and I really like the magnetic mouthpiece keeper. Lots of room for equipment and easy to access in the pack. | |

GREAT FOR 1/2 DAY TRIPS | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| GREAT PACK FOR HALF DAY TRIPS. HOWEVER I TEND TO ALWAYS PACK MORE THAN I REALLY NEED SO THE PACK DOESN'T HAVE ENOUGH STORAGE SPACE FOR ME FOR FULL DAY HIKES. HOWEVER I BOUGHT A LARGER PACK AND PUT THE HAMMERHEAD BLADDER IN IT SO EVERYTHING WORKS OUT GREAT | |

Run with it! | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| Well-suited for ultra trailrunning. Adjusts to fit an athletic women's frame better than the Mako version. Big plus are the easy-access ext. mesh pouches for on-the-go fuel replacement. One design upgrade I would like to see is more top-loading compartments so weight rides higher. | |

| I have really enjoyed the Hammerhead. It has alot more room, light weight and the magnetic bite piece is nice. I can not only pack a lunch but dry clothes. It's great for day hikes. | |

Great Pack -- Poor Tech | |

| The layout of the pack is amazing. It is bigger than it appears. My quick connect hose is leaking after 6 months of light use. | |
