Readily recognized as one of the larger capacity flash packs for travel and commutes, The North Face Heckler Backpack has over 2,050 cubic inches of compartments and storage potential you need to take your laptop, digital video camera, MP3 player and game accessories back to school, along to work or out on the open road. Like other large day packs made by The North Face, the Heckler features side compression straps for load control, but you'll also find an extra compression strap along the bottom to thoroughly cinch down your internal pack contents. This can help quite a bit when you're trudging along to catch a bus and you don't want your iPod or computer hard drive to miss a beat. Along the front stash pocket you'll find a headphone port to keep you wired while riding the train. The internal Universal sleeve fits most computer laptop designs currently on the market, although you'll also find that the sleeve works for most mid-sized hydration bladders. We like the extra padding along the shoulder straps and found it was exceptionally helpful for toting around older and heavier laptop computers.

Perfect book bag, decent day pack
| Rating: | ![]() |
College senior who bought this pack to haul my macbook and heavy books around campus. This thing is perfect for that duty. The smaller outer pocket has organizer sleeves and pen/pencil sleeves these things are not big enough to hold larger grip pens/pencils. Onto the main compartment, this thing is HUGE. It can easily hold a computer and 3-4 thick text books. in the main compartment there are two more sleeves at the top of the of lid. these are perfect to stash your Ti-84 or eye glass case. The straps of this pack are very wide and very comfortable with a small to medium load. unfortunately the straps are a little close together and with a heavier load this becomes an issue. as a day pack this is only mediocre. there is a small hook in the laptop sleeve to hang a camelback. the back of the pack is pure neoprene which leads to a very sweater back, I would have liked to see some mesh integrated to help ease this problem.

| I got this backpack because I needed something big enough to carry all my books to class (post-grad student) as well as my 15" Macbook pro. I can fit about 2 1" binders and 2 large books but I still have to go out to my car and switch out books. I still can't see myself using a roller bag, LOL. I love this backpack, it seems pretty durable, and anything bigger would overpower me anyways (I'm borderline petite, 5'4" female). Anyways, black is best, matches anything! I looked at some of the newer Jansports, but it seems this had a better quality. Straps are a bit wide for me, but very comfortable, once it's on your back you can't feel the weight of the books. I was sent the latest version (the one in the pic has a bit of orange around the headphone slot by the top pocket, but it's actually a smaller piece of gray rubber on the newer styles). | |

I love it! | |

| I got this backpack for my boyfriend for Christmas because he was getting a new laptop and wanted a backpack to carry it in. I chose this one because it looked as great as it was functional. He loved the backpack, but his 17 in laptop wouldn't fit. So in the end, I ended up keeping this backpack and I am very happy with it. I have a Macbook and it fits great with room to spare. The straps are padded which makes it really comfortable and the bag looks and feels extremely durable as well. I know this bag will last me for a long time. I plan on bringing it to Chicago with me when I go to college next year. | |

Heckler Backpack | |

| This is a pretty decent backpack. I purchased two for both my wife and myself for our trip to Europe in a month. It has lots of stowaway room and plenty of places to put your things. There is plenty of room to place your laptop if needed and the straps on the sides and bottom help to tighten up the loose space that is not being utilized. I do wish that they had built in a zipper pocket on the inside for the random things like money, keys etc. All in all, this is a good buy! The payment and shipping were smooth from Altrec as well. I ordered and received in less than a week on the standard shipping option. | |

Perfect Fit for Our 8th Grader!

| Our daughter is quite sure she will own this forever, or at least until college, when she might want a new one! It is a great looking pack, a lot of room, everything fits inside! This is important because she needs to carry all her books and supplies everyday at school, they have no student lockers! It is all black and looks sharp, goes with everything (most important for a teen gal!). Comfortable back padded panel, makes it easier to wear with all that stuff being carted around, and the option of the waist belt rounds out the perfectness of this pack! Love it, love it, love it - you will not be disappointed! | |

Well worth the money | |

| I recently bought this backpack and so far I am very pleased with the product. It is intended for college use. I also got a 15.4" widescreen laptop and IT FITS perfectly. This was my biggest concern. It's very comfortable and can hold a lot of books. It's got seperate areas for a cell-phone, ipod, and laptop to name a few. I removed some of the straps and now it looks great. I've always wanted a North Face backpack because of their good reputation. The quality is superb! It will without a doubt be my backpack for school and vacation for many, many years to come. Customer service on altrec was excellent too. | |

| Best backpack for the money. The last time I got a new backpack was 1998 and my have they come a long way since then. I was still carrying my Jansport backpack from 1998 but my heavy school books tore it up. Unlike my Jansport, the material on this North Face bag feels like it will wear well because its thick and durable. Not only that, I have a 17 inch laptop that fits into the laptop pocket perfectly. Then it has pockets galore so if you're a lady and you don't want to carry a backpack and a purse, you won't have to because this backpack has it all. | |

sweet bag | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
Bought this backpack specifically to use when i need to transport large items on my motorcycle and occasionally store my motorcycle gear (ie: helmet, jacket, etc). The bag lives up to expectations and then some. The main pocket is very spacious, enough to hold a helmet and leave you some extra room for other stuff. The build is very solid and it looks pretty sweet. I recently used it to travel to Las Vegas for a weekend and was quite impressed at how much clothing (including shoes) i was able to put in there. The design of the strap make the bag feel comfortable and light on the shoulders.

I bought this pack as a carry on for my trip to Thailand. I hadn't used a pack since school...but I absolutely love this pack. I take it everywhere with me.

Good quality, spacious inside...

Positive: It fits everything I could ever want to carry in a backpack. There is an adequate amount of pockets to fit smaller items. Holds up well in rain & snow (nothing inside my bag has gotten wet even in the pouring rain).

| The item looks great and is positively huge. I especially like the all-over woodland camo and the matching accent colors. However, two things would keep me from recommending North Face bags, this one in particular. First of all, the material is simply polyester, without any backing or coating. While I never had a chance to use it in the rain, etc., I have a feeling everything inside the bag would've gotten completely wet. And that leads me to my second concern. A week after normal use (my Macbook and a few notepads and pencils), the shoulder strap tore when I tried to lift it off the chair to put it on my back. Not a complete tear, but enough to shake my confidence in the brand, and not want to trust my Macbook to it. I will say this may be a fluke defect. The bag was super comfortable, and looked great. As usual, however, excellent Zappos service saved the day. After one phone call, I was issued an apology (unnecessary, but nice to hear) and was given a full refund on the spot. In conclusion: Will I buy North Face bags again? Probably not. Will I buy anything I can from Zappos? YES! | |

Not ideal for a laptop. | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I bought this backpack for my 15.4" laptop. I have been using other North Face products but I was not impressed on this backpack. There was no fully separated compartment for laptop and I didn't see enough protection comparing to the ones I checked. The fabric was pretty thin and it may be very durable one but it seems to me too think to carry a laptop. I recommend to check the actual backpack before purchasing it. I just examined pictures and descriptions but that didn't provide me with the whole picture of the product. | |

good pack, bad images | |

| Just got the bag in the mail today. It's quality, but the color I ordered (Moonlight Ivory) is nothing what it looks like on here. I don't know if they've changed it or what, but I think I'll be returning it. On the picture, Moonlight Ivory looks mostly white with deep brown and a pretty Tiffany blue. In reality, it's a dirty cream color with dark tan outlining and a teal accent. Not what I was hoping for at all. | |

saratoga green actually looks a lot different
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I ordered the Saratoga Green color expecting it to look like the one in the image above, but once I got it in the mail it was a completely different color. I was expecting a light olive green, and its actually a dark hunter green. Not like the picture at all. Disappointing that the image doesn't match the product. | |

large. | |

| This backpack was a little larger than I had wanted. I needed something to put my laptop in, and this seemed like it would be perfect, but when I put it on, I felt like I had a turtle shell on my back. | |
