| Less appeal in bigger sizes. So I'm a 64, large-footed, 22-year old guy who does all kind of outdoor and athletic activities, and was looking for a shoe that could go from the football field to rugged trails. I had seen this shoe in stores, thinking it'd be a good buy based on the look and the well-rounded reviews. However, once I got the shoes in the mail, I realized that they were just plain ugly in size 14. Additionally, the shoes were certainly not comfortable out of the box, and the tongue of the shoe was awkwardly low, so much so that the laces at the top of the shoe barely stayed on the tongue rather than resting directly on my foot. So for anyone out there with big feet like me, you might consider the fact that these shoes don't translate well to bigger sizes. I returned them and went with the North Face Ultra 104's instead, which I am extremely happy with. | |

| I am ordering my second pair of these right now. First pair made it through a fall/winter/spring of hiking, running, and everyday wear. North Face shoes seem to fit my foot quite well. I have a narrow heel and am wide across the toes. Waterproofing worked quite well in the winter when running through puddles and mud. I really trashed these things and they lasted a full year so I'm happy. The only negatives I found are that the laces come untied very easily and I don't think there is enough arch support so I used a Super Feet insert. Other than that, great shoe! | |

| 300 miles of urban commuting in all types of Pittsburgh weather, hiking and general fatherhood, and these shoes feel like the day I bought them. The soles show very little wear, still have great traction, and they remain very waterproof (shoes soaked, socks dry). They look and feel like new, while several other brands I have had tanked by 250 miles. They still look good, too. My only gripe: the laces were far too long when they arrived, and though they looked cool, they were impossible to keep out of the crank on my bike, even when tucked. Replaced w/ generic black laces almost immediately. | |

| LOVE LOVE LOVE the Northface Hedgehog. My husband and I both have them and are ordering our second pairs...We are avid walkers, and these are so comfortable- no break in time- great support in all the right places, but light on the foot. The best thing about them is they are waterproof- you can walk across the yard with early morning dew, and not come back in the house with wet feet. Good in light snow, too. The shoelace on my first pair wore out before the shoe did, and I contacted Northface, with Zappos help, and they sent me new shoelaces for free! | |

| Darn, it was too narrow for me, but otherwise I loved it. I really wanted to keep this shoe, but it was very uncomfortable just around the side of my little toes. This is not usual for me; most shoes feel fine, I do not have particularly wide feet. If I would have ordered a size bigger the whole shoe would have been too big, they fit fine otherwise. An alternate lacing technique helped a little, but they were still too narrow. Otherwise they seemed great, but I begrudgingly had to return them. | |

| Solid performer for everyday use - I've worn these for everyday walking and find them fairly comfortable. I've discovered that I have a "neutral" foot and therefore don't require substantial arch support - and these do not have that, so overpronators will want to avoid this one (or use a special insert to provide the arch support). Their appearance is reasonable (I tend to like less flashy styles, but these aren't too over-the-top in that regard). I can't comment on hiking performance as I've yet to take them on a hike. | |

Right combo of cushioning and stability | |

| Good shoe. I am on my feet all day and do a good bit of climbing and jumping. Seems to be the right combo of cushioning and support by virtue of the higher top and stiff vibram sole. I have enjoyed so far. Also I normally wear a 10.5 and I ordered a 10.5 and they are a little larger that I would have liked based on a previous reviewer that seems to think that they run small- on the contrary I would say slightly large. | |

| Great shoe! Bought these after trying them on at a local outdoor store. Zappos saved me some money by buying here. Great shoe and very comfortable. Breathes well which might not be the best for some in colder climates right now, but here on the Gulf Coast they are super for keeping my feet cool. Gore-Tex is great especially for kayaking around here keeping my feet dry at all times. I definitely recommend this shoe. | |

| Anonymous from NC - This is the 2nd time I have purchased the Hedgehogs for my husband - he has plantar fasciitis and is also a landscaper... So they help relieve some of the pain while he works...I have also purchased the same shoe for my son which is also a landscaper -- it is a very sturdy shoe and waterproof... I'm sure I will purchase again... | |

| Incredible - These shoes are fantastic. I work and play in a range of conditions and these shoes do it all. The tread sticks to anything, the support cushions my feet even as I am walking across the most rugged terrain and even the meshing on the outsides hasn't torn. I am purchasing my second pair right now. | |

| Okay, Bottom Line: The "Toe Box" is like a torture chamber! Unbelievable how a shoe that is so nice in all other ways could be destroyed by a crazy shape, where the Toe Area becomes so narrow that it squeezes your toes, as if to punish you for wanting to buy a brand you normally trust for all other products besides shoes. These shoes have such nice features, AgION, Gore-Tex, Vibram, wonderful materials, great looking, but unless you have a foot that is unusually narrow, and gets more and more narrow in the Toe Area, then these shoes may not be wearable for you or many others! My feet are a Normal Width, I've never purchased "Wide" shoes, always going with a Standard Width. The 10 1/2 size would have fit perfectly if not for the odd Pointy Toe Design. If I go another size up, they will slip around in the heel. I had to send them back right away. | |

| Flip Flop - These shoes are a nice weight with a good look & water proof but, they are loose in the heel & ankle area. They fit like flip flops when walking flopping all over the place. I had to return them because I knew I would twist my ankle in them. | |

| I owned a pair of TNF Ultra 104s since Summer 2008. This pair of Hedgehogs was supposed to replace the 104s as I wore the 104s daily (hiking, biking, walking, etc.) and the sole simply wore to nothing. However, when the Hedgehogs arrived, the tongue is too low for the lacing, the fit (same size as the 104s, a 10.5) is correct in length, but loose in both the ankle and mid-shoe. I was disappointed as I was hoping the Vibram sole would hold up longer, just like the upper on the 104s has. My opinion, TNF should put a Vibram sole on the 104s. For now, I tried a pair of Merrell Moab XCRs. They are both Gor-Tex and have Vibram soles; we shall see. | |

| Good Shoe, TNF support lacking - I've had this shoe for 4 months and put some significant off pavement miles on them. Unfortunately I broke a lace and, while it may seem like a small thing, I have been banging my head against a wall trying to get a matching replacement... I'll happily pay for it but can find no source... | |

| Just OK - These needed some breaking in. Had a hard time keeping the laces tied and finally had to double tie them. After a break in period they are comfortable; however, not as comfortable as other brands such as ECCO or New Balance. Would not buy again. | |
