The North Face Hot Shot Reviews:

Positive Reviews:

I've used a Jansport backpack since I was in elementary school and have loved the clean, simple look. I upgraded to this pack for two reasons:
1. Jansports don't do well in rain and it gets quite wet in Michigan during winter and spring.
2. Jansports get quite uncomfortable when you start to load heavy textbooks into it.
This bag not only looks good but has a dedicated laptop AND iPad compartment that can also be used to hold a water bladder. It fits my laptop along with a couple textbooks and folders no problem. Also, the secondary pocket has your standard organizational slots for pens, cell phones, etc. The pack is very water resistant and it has two external pockets on either side for water bottles. But the best part of the pack is how comfortable it is when you're wearing it. The difference between a 10 pound Jansport and a 10 pound Hot Shot blew me away. And when you're not busy commuting to school, throw a bladder and your camping gear into the bag for a bomber day pack. Versatile, comfortable and looks great.

Love It!

Been using an old alpinestar backpack that was simply too big. I travel a lot for business and also carry a backpack to and from the office daily. Sometimes I need to cram it, sometimes I don't. I really like the fact that I can tighten the bag up when only traveling with a few items when I need it without having a big bulky pack on my back like I have always done. I also use the water bottle spots to carry an umbrella when I travel (which is needed for trips to NYC and SF frequently) Pros: - Fits my 13" MBP perfect
- Can compact the bag by tightening the straps when needed
- Plenty of pockets up front to store stuff
- Stylish
- Lightweight
- Can hide waist straps
- Comfortable Straps and backing!
- Many More Cons: - one that bothers me is that the zipper for the main compartment is towards the front of the backpack and not the back, this makes it difficult at times to pull the laptop out, although, not a huge deal, just a little peeve of mine.

Good pack

I really like this pack. I use it every day to tote my laptop to and from work, but also use it for day trips and traveling. I've had the pack for about 18 months (April 2012) and it has held up splendidly to daily use. It is light enough to carry around all day without being annoying and expands enough to fit clothes for several days -- and is still comfortable to carry when loaded up. I also really like the styling. The 2011 model that I have is slightly different -- the webbing on the front only comes half-way up -- but otherwise the design and pocket layout seems to be the same as the current model. The pocket layout in the front compartment isn't ideal (the reason I give it 4 stars instead of 5).. I'm not sure how I would change it, but when I go to stow small stuff I often have a hard time figuring out where to stick it. Overall I'm very pleased with the pack and highly recommend it.

Amazing! I ordered this backpack as a Christmas present for my husband. When I received it, the packing slip showed the correct color but the backpack was the wrong color. I immediately e-mailed Zappos of the error and asked how to handle return shipping of the incorrect item and turn-around time to receive the new one. I received a reply right away from an awesome customer service representative, Meg, who apologized for the shipping error. I was told that the correct color backpack was already being shipped to me and that I should not worry about returning the wrong one! What? You can't buy service like that -- it only comes from a true customer service company. Zappos is definitely loyal to its customers! Oh, and one more thing, I received the correct backpack within 48 hours plus a coupon off of my next order! One more thing - I got a follow-up e-mail from another great customer service representative, Justin, just making sure everything was taken care of from my order. Really? Amazing company!

Amazing Purchase

I bought this bag early fall of 2012, and I couldn't have made a better purchase. I was in my local sporting goods store and knew I wanted a new bookbag for classes. Deciding between The Northface and Patagonia- I found that The Northface bags were much more durable and felt well designed on my back. My biggest concern when purchasing the bag was the style, how much could fit, and how comfortable it was to wear. This bag is everything I could want and more. I purchased the Hot Shot in the 'Summit Gold Ripstop' and it literally matches with everything. I didn't think I would like the color, but this bag has made me fall in love with it. Also- the picture online doesn't do it justice- this is a gorgeous bag! So thankful to The Northface for this awesome bag, I would make this purchase a hundred times over.
it has helped me take my books to class numerous days so far and I'm excited to use it on a hike!
Thank you!
SUPER recommend!

Nearly Perfect Bag

This is a great bag that can be utilized in many different activities. First off, I'm a college student and this bag is great for handling the load of heavy textbooks while not placing any strain on your back. The bag design has safety in mind with the built in whistle in the buckle and it is loud! Secondly, I'm a bit of a Prepper and this is a great bag if you just need something to carry the bear essentials; it can take a beating and is very packable and doesn't take up too much space. My only concern/question for the North Face is if it ideal or manageable to waterproof the bag on my own?? Besides that, this bag is simply amazing!

Totally AWESOME!!!

I got this backpack to replace my MEC Deluxe Bookbag, pretty sure I chose the right pack. This bag can easily fit 2, 1.5" binders with a textbook and large lunch bag. I use this mainly for school use, its great and holds lots of stuff while still looking slim on you back. The actualy back is firm, though it is not a frame, and really is quite comfortable for the whole day. I would highly recommend this bag to anybody, no matter the sport/lifestyle it would be used for. Cheers!

I had the same backpack in an older version in grass green which lasted 4 years and could have kept going but I lost it. I got the plain black one this time around. I'm a light packer and can fit everything I need for 3 days or so in this pack. This newer model has a more cushioned laptop pouch. Works well to clip things from the straps and side pockets for a nalgene.

I love this backpack!

I have been using a hit shot backpack since I was a freshman in college and now I am a senior. I am totally loyal to this backpack and it has held everything I needed. I really like that it is endorsed by the ACA. my back loves this backpack too. get this product!

hot shot

Solid material and travel-friendly. I especially appreciate the padded back panel for laptop. The many pockets in the front are good for passport, pens, contact lens case, ipod, and etc. Also, I noticed many travelers eyeing my backpack while going through airports; probably because of The North Face brand name and the style.

Neutral Reviews:

I really do love this back pack! But I will say I like to go hard here and I prefer to spend just a bit more and go for the Big Shot! I would just rather have that extra space! Love this pack but out of both of them I personally prefer the Big Shot! Go big but if you don't need the extra space the Hot Shot will be perfect!
