The North Face Meru PacLite men's jacket is extremely compressible and designed with Gore-Tex® PacLite® for lightweight protection from the elements.
For those "I-wish-I-had-my-jacket" moments when you're traveling or on the trail, The North Face created the minimilistic Meru Paclite Jacket, a lightweight, waterproof and breathable emergency shell. Constructed with waterproof GORE-TEX and sealed seams, it sheds wet weather easily and provides plenty of pocket space with 2 hand pockets and a Napoleon chest pocket. Specifications based on size Large.
When you’re high above the trailhead and a gusher of a storm comes out of nowhere, pull The North Face Meru Paclite Jacket out of your pocket and get waterproof in a zip. Gore-Tex made its waterproof breathable Paclite fabrics for activities where both space and weight are an issue, and where getting wet could mean more than just an uncomfortable afternoon. The North Face used this fabric in the Meru, which is shaped for your active lifestyle on the trail or on the ropes. Vents on the front make sure you don’t get too steamy as you squish your way down the trail to the car, and the hood and hem adjust with drawcords to keep out the sideways rain.
Bottom Line:A poncho has its perks, but it’s no Meru.

Outstanding Jacket! | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I got this jacket to replace an older DIAD rain jacket that the coating had peeled. I went with the Meru as it was Gore-Tex and I wanted the longer lasting wear I got from Gore-Tex vs a coating. Took it to Grand Canyon in Feb. Camped in the snow and got sonwed on 4 of 8 days. Temps were down in the teens or single digits at night. This jacket was outstanding. Great performer in cold, on hikes, in the snow, etc. Very impressed with it. Great fit. Lightweight but layered well. Love the higher pockets so I can wear a pack and still access them. I think it will work well for summer with few layers but I was also easily able to layer a MTS T-neck, OXT hoody, and a MH Monkeymanfleece under it without feeling like Randy in A Christmas Story. Note, there are no pit zips, but the pockets are big with vents. That might be an issue in warm weather, but was not when it was 20 degrees. This packs fairly small, not as much as my DIAD did, but it seems to be a much more substantial shell than the DIAD was too. The hood fit well over winter hats and should be fine with a helmet. Great arm/sleeve fit and thats from a guy with a 35 sleeve. Just an overall very nice fit. North Face really did this one right and priced it reasonable for Gore-Tex. | |

Love it! | |

| This is jacket is everything I thought it would be and more. I love the color (bright green) and the fit. I have always liked paclite, but I never found a TNF paclite jacket I really liked until now. It stood up to a storm with wind and sideways rain and shed the water like crazy. It's not the quietest jacket, but I don't care, I'm not trying to sneak up on anyone in it. It's a solid piece of gear at a reasonable price. | |

Excellent Shell | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I've had this shell for a couple of monthes and I have to say that for a "emergency shell" it ceratinly fills the role as a primary shell. It's held up extremely well to the rain in the Pacific Northwest. It fits extremely well under a pack, is light, and allows pocket access with a harness on. I can't wait to test it out on the glaciers this summer. It has become my go to shell because it is so light. | |

highly recommended for any adventure...it is super light but also will take a beating without tearing to shreds...named after the iconic peak in the Indian Himalaya called Mt. Meru, the center of the universe in hindu cosmology (i attempted it with conrad anker and jimmy chin in 2008....f***ing epic!!!!)

Eveything is good, except the zippers
| Rating: | ![]() |
| Sadly in the price range the Zippers have killed an amazing jacket, water leaks through the zippers quite easily... North Face mentioned that they will correct this for the 2011... to late | |
