The North Face Nuptse 2 Jacket -

A classic, coveted down jacket redesigned in 2011 with a more modern, flattering slim fit.
Constructed with ample 700-fill goose down, this high-loft down jacket delivers plush warmth in brutal conditions. Double-layer taffeta paneling at shoulders provides added durability from abrasion caused by pack carry. First thing you think when you pull on The North Face Men's Nuptse 2 Jacket? Warm. Second thing? This Nuptse 2 seems to fit just a little snugger than my old Nuptse. It's not just those extra pints and burritos you and your climbing buddies down every weekend after a few hours at the crag, North Face has designed this newer version with a slimmer, more modern fit. Just as durable as you want it to be, this lightweight winter coat is made from mini-ripstop nylon and has abrasion-resistant shoulder panels to protect the jacket from pack straps. Stuffed with premium 700-fill goose down, you'll have all the breathable, high-loft warmth you need to battle frigid temps.
Stuff this North Face jacket into one of the 2 zippered front pockets and you'll have no problem finding room in your pack for it. Pull it out at your high-elevation camp and make your buddies jealous as they huddle over their little stoves, warming their hands on their cups of mac n' cheese. Velcro tabs at your wrists and a drawcord at your waist help retain body heat and seal out chilly drafts. Zip-in compatible, this down coat will connect to any same size TNF shell for a nice puffy layer of insulation on the slopes. The North Face Nuptse 2 Jacket is designed with a slimmer, more modern fit than the classic Nupste Jackets, so you'll be glad you haven’t built your own base layer over the summer with all the nachos and beer you consumed. Some things about the jacket remain the same: especially the incredible warmth and durability of this North Face keystone jacket. The Nuptse 2 Jacket by the North Face is a high loft 700 fill goose down lightweight winter jacket that has abrasion resistant shoulder panels, plain weave nylon with DWR, zip in compatibility, double layer taffeta on the shoulder, elastic cuff, hem cinch cord, and it all compresses into one of the two zippered front pockets, so you can easily stow it while your on the go…you can’t beat all that with a stick. More than a simple style update, not so much a complete redesign, it’s everything you’ve come to expect from this piece, only just more so. The Nuptse 2 Jacket is one serious jacket that will meet your needs no matter the cold.

For The North Face Nuptse 2 Down Jacket, The North Face took the classic Nuptse and gave it a slightly slimmer silhouette so you don't look all puffed up when you go outside. Behind the durable double-layer fabric is a power punch of 700-fill goose down. Even if you're more Lambeau Field than Texas Stadium, the Nuptse Down Jacket can keep you warm in the nastiest conditions. Use the zip-in compatibility to make it a mid layer and see just how warm you can be.

Warm-Nuptse 2 Jackets

The ideal warmth: I can see why it's a classic, coveted down jacket providing the best "warmth" and comfort range in the cold conditions.. The North face Nuptse was ideal for the blackouts in the Southern CA areas during the windstorm. I was looking for some winter warmth gear to go up to the snow with my wife and son a week before the Windstorms that took out the power for the San Gabriel Valley area. Thank God, that the jackets and gear arrived for my family, amongst of which was the Nuptse. I enjoyed that the minute you put it on it was instant warmth, it was in total contrast to the thunder jacket I had which was just on fire when you had it on for a while. This Jacket was excellent in keeping a constant warm temperature. The materials that went into this jacket is just top notch with the 50D mini-ripstop weave nylon, 700 fill goose down. Talk about durability; my son was chewing on the double-layer taffeta portion of it while I was holding him that night to put him into bed. I thought that the jacket was done for but, to my surprise, there were no teeth marks not even a scratch… On a side note, I'm 6' 2" and built a little on the thin side and this jacket's medium size was just fit. I would have appreciated an inch more in the length of the jacket. However, that doesn't stop me from giving this jacket 5 stars. Thanks for making such an excellent product TNF!!!

NUPTSE 2!!!

Hands down 5 stars! insanley warm. had it for a few days now at minus 5 celuis, with only a t shirt. absolutley no need to layer anymore then that at that temp. acually a pain walking around every store or building u walk into u cook up! looking forward to the 20 below days! like i said 5 stars for warmth. 2 big hand pockets. no interior pockets. no hood. cinch cord is nice, works well blocks the cold from sneaking up. colors are a little different then in the picture. i dont now if those are the nuptse pics and not the nuptse 2. got it off the rack at Atmosphere on sale for 220. it was so good looking it caught my eye as soon as i walked in, walked up and sure enough, nuptse 2 tnf red $220. Sold! anyway. im 6'1, 200lbs. 42inch chest. large fits awsome. goes with my tnf tuke. jacket is extremly light. very packable. Perfect winter jacket and exactley what i was after. Love it!!!

Nice warm jacket.

Firstly I'd like to say the size of this jacket runs big. I have A LOT of north face products and I normally get the small and fits perfectly. I got this jacket in small as well and is way too big. A medium sized guy could fit nicely in a small. FYI I am 5"7 and 130 lbs. This jacket is plenty warm. I am living in Boston and at this time of the year, it's pretty chilly down to 20 degrees with strong winds. I wore this jacket with the Varius Guide Jacket zipped together and I felt too hot, constantly finding myself totally unzipping the jacket. But if you are just standing there in the cold and not doing much physical activity, it should be just fine. But the point here is, this jacket is really warm.

Replaced a Marmot Triclimate

I bought this jacket for $200 just a month after buying a Marmot Triclimate jacket for $300. The Marmot was my first venture away from North Face products and it will definitely be my last. The Marmot was nice but the zipper was a pain and the inner lining just wouldn't stay put like it was advertised. So I bought this one from North Face expecting to have to wear my fleece underneath in really cold conditions only to discover that it was not necessary. I wore it alone with a wind chill of -25F and I was more than comfortable. I'm sorry North Face for being weak and buying an inferior and more-expensive product. I own numerous North Face products and they all out-perform my expectations and I pledge my loyalty.

Great Update to an old standby

This coat really can't be beat as it builds on the tremendous history and success of the TNF Nuptse original. The fit and cut is definitely slimmer and more form fitting yet it is still plenty roomy. Same 700 fill that we all know and love which provides super warmth and comfort. only slight criticism is there are no internal pockets to speak of. One would have done the trick but it isn't nor should it be a deal breaker. Zip in compatible as usual. Just impossible to beat the warmth and comfort that one expects from a classic TNF product.

My New Favorite Jacket

What's not to like? It's a North Face, it's toasty warm, and it looks good. If you're looking for a warm jacket, this is it. The 700 fill down literally wraps itself around your entire upper body. The collar stays up high and covers the neck well. The collar isn't intrusive, whether you're zipped all the way up, or not. There are 2 external zippered pockets . No inside pockets. The wrist openings are adjustable w/ Velcro straps. If you're shopping for a down jacket, the Nupset 2 should be on your radar.

Purchased Northface Nuptse for my teenage son

Had a difficult time finding the Nutpuse jacket in size and color I wanted. I ended up ordering from Moosejaw and they had lots of sizes and colors available and in stock. I was also happy with the price and free shipping. I was very pleased the jacket shipped the next day and I also received reward points that are good for the next 2 years.....I plan on purchasing my next Northface from Moosejaw. The live chat was very helpful in answering my questions!

Comfortable and Warm

This jacket is extremely light, very comfortable, and very wam. My wife has had one for a few years and she loves it, so I decided to try it out and it is truly an awesome jacket.
Be advised that the description says that there is an inside pocket, but there in none. There is also no hood. I wish it had more pockets other than the two hand pockets, but other then that, I cant complain.

Good warm winter jacket

brought this for my dad and he likes it a lot. Straight forward goose down jacket, nothing fancy, good for casual or everyday use. Also zip in compatible with outer shells to Keep you warm and comfortable in very cold conditions. There is a slight con, there's no hood. Can't believe north face left that out as the previous goose downs had a rain hood stored. But overall it is a great jacket, warm, comfortable, and simple.
Jake at Moosejaw on 11/30/2012

Crazy warm!

Fantastic warmth of a jacket, it's one of those jackets that one buys living in a cold city (come winter) and your strolling around and hop into a shop and suddenly your sweating like crazy haha, defo a toaster jacket, but be careful with it, you don't want to buy this for tepid days, its for cold climates and will become a burden for anything warmer.

Negative Reviews:

Not Nearly As Warm As Expected

I first purchased the North Face Denali Wind Pro and the Denali fleece jackets, only to discover that neither was warm enough to justify their high prices or review ratings, in my opinion. Finally, after reading several glowing reviews on the North Face Nuptse 2 down jacket, I decided to purchase it and give it a try. My verdict:
As long as the temperatures were around the 30's, the jacket kept me warm. However, when the weather got down in the20's and teens, the Nuptse 2 alone didn't get the job done for me. I've spent a lot on North Face jackets this winter, and can say that they will keep you warm, as long as the weather isn't very cold. I'm dissappointed. I bought these coats, because I heard they used to be very warm. They must be made differently now.
