For high warmth and light weight choose the Prism Optimus jacket from The North Face. It combines natural and synthetic insulation for the best of both worlds.

An exceptionally durable, insulating jacket, The North Face Prism Optimus Jacket for Men features a combo of goose down and primaloft insulation shielded by a weather-resistant coating.
The North Face designed the Men’s Prism Optimus Down Jacket for cold, wet missions to foreboding alpine peaks. Thanks to the hybrid construction using both high-loft goose down and synthetic PrimaLoft with a weather-resistant HyVent DT shell, the Prism Optimus provides tons of essential warmth in hasty snow caves and on windswept belay ledges. Welded baffles decrease weight and stop the insulation from shifting. The included stuff sack keeps the jacket small when it’s in your pack, and the interior bottle pocket keeps your water from freezing.

Pinnacle insulation piece for freezing mountaineering pursuits, this thermal Summit Series® jacket is amply insulated with both lightweight PrimaLoft® One (collar and hood), and a plush 700 fill down (body). Technical, welded baffle construction traps heat to keep explorers warm, while mini ripstop nylon fabric adds abrasion-resistant durability. Five harness-compatible pockets provide ample storage.

A favorite among The North Face athletes, the Prism Optimus Jacket is a supreme layering, highly durable insulating piece for a wide range of cold weather activities. Designed with PrimaLoft One insulation, this stellar synthetic material is extremly warm and lightweight.

I've had this jacket for 2 years now and am rapidly approaching the 3rd winter with it up in Summit County, CO. It's super warm. I can wear just a t'shirt under it when I need to walk Molly-dog and it does just fine. For colder days/nights(stumbling around the streets of Breck), wearing a fleece as a mid layer is perfect. I don't ski in it (way to hot). But it is a great piece to pull out of the pack and throw on while waiting for the rest of crew to skin up. | |

| I purchased this jacket after trying several different down coats from Patagonia and Mountain Hardwear. I am 6'2" and 185#. Unfortunately a lot of nice gear does not fit me well with regard to the arm and torso length. Fortunately this jacket fits me very well in a size large with plenty of room for a sweater. It is incredibly warm and light and looks better than some of the other jackets I've worn. I stay very warm even in freezing temperatures with only a thin base layer. Definitely worth the money! | |

| It run's small so buy a size larger than normal. I'm 5'7" 140 and I wear an XL. This jacket is great: it's super warm and comfortable, and you can pack it down to a tiny sack. The hood can be tucked into the collar and the combination of down and primaloft is great. It's water resistant, durable and very light. I bought it for $200 but I think it's worth the $300 price tag. You should definitely buy this jacket if you see it. | |

| The combination of down and primaloft makes a very warm jacket and keeps it as small as possible. It has a lot of down in the front side and primaloft in the hood and inner part of the pocket to provide better insulation. I tried it out one week in Patagonia between -5°C and 15°C using a base layer and it was perfect!! | |

| Very light and very warm. And very compressible. Almost laughed when I saw the stuff sack, but sure enough, an XL fit nicely. Note: the stuff sack is not waterproof, so keep dry. Size note: I usually wear a TNF Large, but had to get the XL on this coat. Bottom line: Great coat at a great price. | |

| Very pleased with the weight and warmth. I wanted a longer jacket that hit below the waist. It compresses nicely to fit in a backpack Also, another great feature is the draw string in the hood. It holds the hood in place so you can turn your head without obstructing the view. | |

| Finally got to use my new NF jacket. WOW! It's very warm. Has to be under 30 degrees; otherwise, you just sweat like a pig. Very light, and the hood is great at blocking the wind freezing your ears off. Highly recommend. | |
