| Waterproof, windproof, light weight, warm, breathable. What more could you ask for? 5'9, 155lbs, Medium was a bit loose on me, with room for 100wt fleece layered. This is from TNF Summit Series, so you can expect quality that matches the likes of Patagonia, and Arcteryx. You know TNF tailors to college students, but the summit series have been field tested and a class above the run of the mill NF products. Well worth the price. The two side pockets are placed high for backpacking. The slightly warmer version if the "sentinel thermal", with high loft fleece. | |

| This is a good soft shell, it's made well, with attention paid to detail. The combination of about 200 wt fleece lining and windstopper seems ideal for less strenuous activities in windy conditions (blocks wind extremely well) when the temperature is above 40 or so. If it drops below that, start moving or layering, or you freeze up. My only gripe is that the fleece lining in the sleeves makes it a bit hard to put on or take off, especially with a long sleeve layer underneath. | |

| My husband has always wanted the North Face Sentinal Windstopper Jacket. We live in Southwest Colorado and he will not only use it for skiing, but also avalanche control work for the state highway dept....so it will be used in extreme winter conditions. | |
