My Only Jacket... | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
I primarily wear only this jacket in SF winters, where temps might be down to the 40s with the wind chill, and I am on a motorcycle, so it gets pretty windy and cold. With a fleecy layer underneath, you could do colder temps, or snowboarding even, as it has a sealing drawstring on the waist. It's super light and comfortable and packs up easily in my backpack. The grey color is a light silvery grey, but very low key.

a down must have | |

This is a phenomenal down jacket- it is extremely light weight, packs very small, but is also incredibly warm. I am 5'8/size 6 and wear a medium. The Thunder is a must have for the outdoor clothing arsenal/back-up layer for your pack. It provides good protection against the wind, and when temperatures get chilly it is an easy layer and light piece to throw on. I wear this out the door for ski-touring in as low as 5 degree weather, as well as an outer layer at 13,000ft in a biting cold wind to ski back down. It functions perfectly, and allows for great movement and flexibility. Reliable warmth and well cut for women, I also like the stitching and pocket placements. This is a fantastic go-to jacket for outdoor women and versatile for all kinds of activities. The weight to warmth ratio is it's biggest selling point..

Best Jacket I have owned!

| I love this jacket. I normally like to get my winter jackets a bit larger, so I can layer a fleece underneath if needed but I would have been happy ordering true to size. I got a L, but would have been happy still with a M. I got the Kiwi Green color, and it is awesome! I get compliments every time I wear it. I live in N. Japan and winters average 20 degrees. This jacket is so warm. It is so light weight and feels thin, but believe me, it is super cozy! I wish I could have one in every color! Top quality workmanship, North Face is terrific! | |

Love it! | |

| I have wanted a down sweater for awhile after using my sister in law's at her place in Seattle. It's just right for outdoors with my active boys- heavier than a fleece but not really heavy- it doesn't typically get that cold here in the DC area. The fit is great- very comfortable. I want to wear it all the time. If you are further north you will want a heavier jacket for winter, but this will be a great option for spring/fall or under a shell for very cold weather. | |

my absolute FAVE down sweater /jacket

| outstanding feel, fit, warmth. I LOVE this jacket, own it in 4 colors and buy it whenever it's on sale. - silky feel - low static, low crinkle - drawstring at hip to stop aircirc - high zippable neck - very stuffable - goof length, good cut I wear this as my top 'suitcoat' layer indoors all winter, dress it up or down. It beats any down sweater competition, and I have tried ALL the other brands! | |

Weightless portable reliable warmth
| Rating: | ![]() |
| This jacket packs down to a small pocket that can be stowed in hip pack. Great to have along skiing to layer under a shell with minimal bulk when the temp drops. The size small fits very comfortably and the sleeves are long enough for 5'9" height. Of the three 800 down-fill jackets I compared (Mtn.Hardware & Patagonia were the others)the North Face had the best features and fit. Now I'm looking at the TNF 800 vest. | |

Love this jacket!! | |

| This jacket is awesome!! Very lightweight, stylish, and very warm. I would probably recommend going up a size, feels kind of snug in the shoulder area and I'm pretty small. I usually wear a small in the fleeces and purchased a medium in this jacket and may have even ordered a large because of the shoulder room!! I don't think it is true to size. I'm 5"6 and 130lbs. | |

So light and warm | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| This jacket is very warm and soft and packs to a size of a softball. The material seems very delicate, so I would not use it as a primary, daily jacket. However, it's a perfect light layering option. I'm 5'4" and Small fits right at the hips. The powder blue color is just dreamy, and does not look 'metalic' like it seems in this picture. | |

Very Nice Jacket | |

| I bought this for my wife and she loves it. It's so lightweight and yet very warm. It was -1F the day it arrived and she put it on and went walking for an hour. She returned and declared it the best down jacket she has ever owned. Now all her sisters want one as well. | |

Better quality overall

| When I compared a size small to other companies making a similar jacket,(Patagonia, Backcountry) I found this jacket to fit better, be better built, and was warmer. I wear this jacket alone or as a layer under a shell, it's surprisingly warm without being really puffy. 800 fill is the way to go. | |

Not quite right | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I ordered this jacket in the surf blue color. It had bright red binding on the inside seams, and you could dark pieces of down through out the jacket. I sent it back! Otherwise, in other colors, it would have been acceptable. | |

not quite right | |

| I tried the grey one but it has too much sheen. The length was good but the upper-arm area was too big & bulky and looked strange. I really wanted to like this jacket, but it just wasn't quite right for me. Many thanks to Altrec's customer service dept though! | |
