Positive Reviews:

These pants are super warm & very comfortable. I was slightly disappointed when I got them as I thought the fabric would kind of drape and hang off your hips but as they are a fleece, they are a bit more firm/slightly stiff. That said, they are still really comfy. For sweat pants, the fit is relatively flattering but I still wouldn't be overly keen to wear them outside the house.
I too found the sizing to run a bit big... I bought my usual TNF size (small) but should have gone for the XS. They have a drawstring around the waist, so I haven't bothered to exchange for the smaller size - they are fine for lounging around at home. I am 173cm (5ft 6), 62kg (136lb).
One of the side seams came undone near my hip on my 2nd wear, which surprised me but nothing a needle & thread couldn't fix.
Despite the slight disappointment of them being a bit more casual than I thought, I find myself diving into these as soon as I get home from a long day at work!

I agree with the other reviewers that these pants run big. I'm normally a size S in things - 125 lbs - and I would probably need an XS in these but don't feel like returning them (plus, they don't have an XS anymore on BC.com). The only reason they fit is because I am able to tighten the drawstring waist - and even then they're a little loose around the waist. Since they're "comfy pants" that I plan to just wear around the house, this is fine by me - what woman doesn't like a little extra give around the waist? The length is good - I'm 5'5" - they drag a little on the ground, but I prefer that look to the "waiting for the flood" look. The great thing about these pants is that they are super soft and cozy - I feel like relaxing the second I put them on. They are also, as advertised, warm. All in all, not a great pant but a really good one.

Super soft and comfy!

The fabric is luxurious - lightweight, but incredibly soft and warm. Fleece seems durable and the fit is pretty good overall. I sometimes go between sizes L and XL. I didn't want these to be baggy, but wanted them comfy for camping and traveling, so I went with the XL. They fit great in the legs (straight, loose) and are just a tad big in the waist - but, the hidden drawstring takes care of that, so overall, I'm very pleased. The regular length works fine for me (I'm 5' 8") with flat casual shoes. I haven't washed them yet, so I hope they don't shrink (lengthwise, especially). Overall, I'm very pleased with this purchase - which is my first from Moosejaw.

Awesome Pants!

I bought several pairs of these pants last season, and wear them all the time. However, I noticed that the fleece was looking a little worn in the knee area, so I decided to get another pair in black this season. I'm so glad I did. This new fleece seems to be more durable and thicker, yet still feels lightweight and is easy to move in. After wearing it all day, the fleece doesn't look matted down or worn in the knees like the older style does. The pants maintain their shape well and hold up to frequent washings. I'm pleased with these updated pants and highly recommend them!
Angel at Moosejaw on 03/30/2011

These are beautiful warm pants but they truly run huge. I am 5'1 140 lbs, 30 of those lbs around the waist :( . I ordered the mediums, way to big. Sent them back for smalls, still way to big. Crazy since most North Face items run small. Length was long for me on all but then again I'm short. Backcountry is wonderful though with returns and customer service so I ordered the North Face Glacier pant in boys XL and L. The large ones fit great all over including length. Hope this helps other buyers.

What's Not to Love About These Pants?

Up until this season, I used similar pants from a competitive (and known) company. These North Face pants are much better: warmer, softer and a little bit longer – which makes the fit ideal for me. I love the fit (size small), and I do not feel that it is bulky. I do not like very tight pants, especially if they need to create warmth. In such an instant, a person would benefit from purchasing fleece leggings. I use both (leggings from a different company) and each has its great use.
HHal at The North Face on 10/30/2012

Great pants but they don't just run big, they run huge. I ordered a medium based on the NorthFace sizing chart and comments made here since I'm 5'1, 145 lbs with 20 lbs of that right at the waist (or lack thereof). The mediums were still huge all over. Awesome pants and price though so I'm shipping 'em back for smalls and then I'll be able to say I wear size small pants and isn't that a great bonus?

IBS3125300 at Backcountry.com on 12/01/2011

Really warm and comfy!

I used these pants as sleeping/lounging pants on every cool-weather outdoor research trip since I bought them. They are perfect to slip on over long underwear and keep you incredibly warm (especially in a sleeping bag) without a lot of weight. I lived in them at night in Antarctica and trekking in the Himalayas! They are also great to have in your bag as an extra layer between snow pants and long underwear on particularly chilly days.
Katherine at Moosejaw on 05/24/2012

I'm 5'3 and weigh 135 lbs. I carry a lot of my weight in my legs and rear, and these pants look great! I got a medium and they're perfect for my build -- small waist but bigger lower half. They are a little long on me, but everything is when you're 5'3! Material is wonderfully soft. I would say they'd be in the size 8 - 10 range, leaning more toward the size 10.

Thank you North Face!!!

I am so glad that I have finally found pants that are offered in a "short" inseam that are truly short! I am 5 feet tall and wear a size medium pants, and normally have to still get "short" or "petite" pants hemmed. These pants fit perfectly!! Also, really soft fleece, and it washes well. Recently bought them in black, will definately be buying more! Thanks North Face!!

Negative Reviews:

Not what they used to be - disappointing.

I just purchased my fourth pair of these pants and am disappointed in the fit. I have two other pairs (one black and one brown) from past seasons and they fit beautifully and can be worn for both dressy and casual purposes because they do not look like sweat pants.
The two pairs I have purchased recently (last year at a store and now this year on line) are a different design. The same medium pant fits me entirely differently. They are now a big, baggy, and sloppy sweat pant style.
North Face please bring back the old ones! I am thinking of having these tailor fit to my body, ugh! I am 5'5", weigh 118, and usually wear a size 8 or medium in the old style.
Cher3 at The North Face on 07/12/2012

Though these pants are super soft, they have an odd, unflattering cut that made my thighs look huge. This effect may not be so pronounced on someone taller, but short girls, beware.
As someone else noted, they run large -- I'm 5'1", 110 pounds, and the only reason the XS fit was because of the inside drawstring waist.
Bummed because I knew they would be warm & comfy, but I decided to return them. Luckily Backcountry makes it easy to do...

misa415 at Backcountry.com on 06/18/2011

not like the previous pant

I agree with another customer that the pant now out is different and does not fit nearly as well as the previous version. The current 2012/2013 TKA sweatpant is baggy, long and just not the same as those I had ordered in the past. I would not order these again. They had been my favorite lounging pant ( I had 2 before) but I don't want to waste my $ .

Neutral Reviews:

Who has legs this long?

The product is great and was shipped super fast, however, North Face, what the heck? I'm 5'5 and I got an extra large to make sure they were loose enough to hike dunes in, and they are waaaaay to long. I'm talking like, 9 inches too long. And extra large short is not available, and these pants are so long I think even a short would be too much, so I'm going to hem them myself instead of exchanging. Great material, received them super fast, but seriously, no chick has legs this long.
Kelly at Moosejaw on 10/01/2011

I ordered these pants for travel as a substitute for sweat pants. They are warm, light-weight, and take up little room in my bag. They fit, but the first time I pulled them over my hips several stitches popped. I had to reinforce the waistband with zig-zag stitches to keep them from unraveling.

timetraveler at Backcountry.com on 01/11/2012

if you are atleast 5'9" don't bother getting unless they have these pants in 'long'. Otherwise good pants. I'm pretty disappointed since i love TNF.
