The North Face Transit Jacket -
Say goodbye to the puffy stuff. The North Face Transit Jacket is living proof that a down jacket can be exceptionally warm and stylish, too--without making you look like Marshmallow Man. The Transit Jacket is made up of 600 fill goose down insulation covered in weather resistant taffeta. The jacket falls to around the mid-thigh, which is perfect for keeping your backside warm when you're sitting on the lift but never gets in the way of total freedom of movement. Extra nice features include a two-way zipper down the front for top and bottom access and a sealed-in snap-down closure, plus a brushed chin guard for cozy warmth around the face and an inside pocket for your cell. The hood is adjustable and detachable for total versatility. The jacket compacts down into an attached bag for convenient transport. With so much functionality and so much style, the North Face Transit is a likely candidate for your new winter go-to.

To have your jacket professionally cleaned, take it to a service that specializes in cleaning down products.

Positive Reviews:

lightweight but surprisingly warm and functional!

at 5'5", this jacket cuts off right below the hips. had doubts that it would be warm because it wasn't as puffy as i thought it would be but it is surprisingly warm and comfy. a few straggling feathers but expected for down jackets. had no problems zipping and buttoning. bought this jacket in size small and wore a semi-thick sweater underneath - a little snug by the armpits but a size up may be too big. just a side note, the north face logo on the top front left and top back right and the 600 on the sleeve is embroidered in the color of the jacket so it won't stand out (for those that actually care).

Just what I was looking for! Score!

Light yet VERY effective. I wanted something that would provide warmth all the while not looking like the stay puff marshmallow man. I cannot believe how this coat can keep me warm for being so light. It looks great as a casual jacket and also with my dressy work attire. I will say I wish I had purchased a medium. I'm 5'3", 125 lbs with a bit of muscle and I bought a small. It fits perfectly as long as I'm not wearing a huge bulky sweatshirt or sweater underneath, then it feels just a tad tight. So if you plan on layering, you might want to consider going up a size so you have some room.

Warm, and looks awesome!!

This coat is well-constructed, streamlined, long enough to cover your booty and warm! Has a great lightweight down fill, warm but not bulky. It is true to size, I am 5'7, 135, with long arms and the small is a great fit, even with a long thick sweater underneath. Hood is sized big enough so you can get up over a ponytail. I have the navy, and its gorgeous, almost looks charcoal with just a little sheen to the fabric. I looked around for a long time before deciding on a down jacket, love that this is long enough to provide warmth at the hip without being constricting. A really solid purchase, couldn't be happier!

Love this jacket!!

This jacket is awesome. I bought the graphite grey, and the color is beautiful. I'm 5'2, and the jacket hits just below my butt, which is just where I want it. It doesn't expose your backside when bending over, and that's always a plus. I ordered the medium in the past, but the bottom two snaps didn't sit right when buttoned, so I sized up. This jacket is by far the best I've owned. It moves with me and is not confining and it keeps me so warm. The jacket is fitted and gives me great shape too. I love this jacket!!

Love this jacket!

I went back and fourth about getting The North Face Transit Jacket or The North Face Metropolis Jacket. I'm only 5'1" so this jacket is the perfect length for me (the Metropolis jacket was a little too long). I purchased a Medium, because the Small was too small to wear with my North Face Denali fleece. Overall, I am VERY happy with my purchase and glad I went with this jacket.

I just got this jacket in the mail with the one business day shipping! Really great quality, amazing color, but the size chart is completely off. I'm 5'7, 140 lbs and based on my measurements from the size chart I am a 'medium' in this coat; it is not form fitting on me at all and big so the coat is going back for a size 'small'.
Kerrie - customer at Zappos.com on 09/27/2012
This coat is light weight but extremely warm. I tried several coats like this style but found their weight too heavy for my taste. It is not bulky so it makes a great car coat as well as a parka during the winter months. The vintage white is a softer white, not like the bright white seen so often today. Fit is true to size.

Love it But Watch the Size

The jacket itself is great however, based on what I read in the reviews, I ordered a medium but it was far too small. I am a size 8 so Medium should have been perfect but I could barely close it and could never wear a sweater under. Beautiful jacket though and I think I'm going to try it in the large.

Great coat

Great jacket. Totally meet my expectation. It is warm, not bulky, I am 5.10 at 130lbs and I bought a large. Covers your back-end which for me is a big plus when cold out side.Very well made.
inger at Moosejaw on 01/17/2013
I love this jacket, it fits great. I wanted something a bit longer so I could wear longer sweaters underneath. I wear a size 12 and bought a L so I had some extra room.

Negative Reviews:

Jacket is warm and light enough and looks very stylish. However, from day 1, the feathers have been popping out like crazy. I'm returning this jacket.
