The Venture parka is 3 inches longer than the Venture Jacket for extra protection. Redesigned this year with an improved hood the Venture Parka is still fully waterproof and highly breathable. Pit-zips allow you to dump heat when hiking in the rain, while the hem cinch cord and adjustable hood seal out the storm when the winds howl. Two hand pockets are easy to access with a pack or harness on and the Venture packs down small for easy storage. HyVent DT: This waterproof fabric is lightweight, packable, and more breathable than other unlined treated fabrics. HyVent DT is created by applying a polyurethane (PU) coating with a DT print matrix which acts as a dry-touch, half-layer coating. The DT half layer adds durability and comfort by physically separating the HyVent DT PU coating from the skin. HyVent DT eliminates the need for a liner and is commonly referred to as a 2.5-layer fabric.

| I purchased this shell for a hike that I went on in California, but have gotten so much more use out of it on a day to day basis. It's nice and lightweight which is handy since I can always have it around, and layer beneath it. I have worn it in sunny, cloudy, rainy climates, and it's done fairly decent. The one time I wore it for an extended period of time in the rain was while I was cycling. I can't say for sure whether it performed well as a "waterproof" layer as I was sweating a bit under the jacket as well. The pit zips helped for sure, but the overall lack of ventilation flow prevented me for cooling off completely. This jacket has kept me dry on other slightly rainy days for sure. Overall, a decent little shell for the price, and the pit zips for me are priceless. Here is what I would like to have seen on the jacket: 1. Dual direction zippers 2. Pockets being made of a non-mesh material, or lack of velcro. I hate when the velcro sticks to the pockets when the jacket is in my bag, etc. | |

| This jacket is god to go! I am in the US Navy in the Special Warfare environment we like to play outdoors and test our gear. We also know gear - period. We buy the best there is, and test it to the limits. This jacket was bought for about 100 people and issued out as a lightweight jacket. Almost everyone loves it - of course except those who don't dig outdoors. Some use it for runnnig, some for cycling, althought the hood acts like a parachute while on the bike. I found it most useful walking, hiking on rainy, drizzly days. Superior waterproofing and lightweight is it's strongest value. It doesn't give you much warmth, but great against water and some wind. | |

Bought this to take to Alaska knowing I would run into rain sometime there. Took a float plane trip into the wilderness and as I thought it rained on us. The parka did all I was hoping it would, Light weight because we were very limited on weight we could take there and my camera equipment took up most of that. The extra length worked out well. Didn't bind me up moving around to take pictures. It did what it was suppose to do | |

| I bought this jacket on Wednesday and it started raining early Thursday morning and it has not stopped raining for 2 1/2 days. This jacket has kept me dry as a bone and the adjustable cuffs, mid section and hood make this a true custom fitting rain jacket. I wore it to the office today with a shirt and tie and it looks perfect in that setting too. You will not be dissapointed with this rain jacket. | |

| Great product. Very entertaining website. Unbelievable speed of arrival. A bit pricey, but ok anyway. I had ordered this jacket for my son early in his birthday week, and expected to have to give him an 'IOU,' but it arrived the evening before. It's been about 10 days and I'm not sure he's taken it off yet, even with our cold and snowy weather. Sizing was great---room for a sweater, without looking bulky. Is that enough to say? | |

| - Packed Jacket around in Camera case while on vacation in Disney World; Jacket Stores easily - Jacket breathes quite well, and is very water proof. It rained a couple of inches of water in less than 15 min while in Florida. | I have tested this jacket on many early Spring bikes rides in Wisconsin. Rainy, windy and cold - this jacket blocks it all with only light layering underneath. I am 6'2" and found the regular Venture to be a bit short for active use. The parka is the right length for me. The underarm zippers are a great feature. It is also nice enough to wear to the office. | |

| I use this as an add-on layer for rain and wind. It does not provide absolute water protection, but is great for day packs where it folds up into the corner of my pack and is super light weight. Used with layers it is good for cold and hot weather, great venting features. | |

| I used this jacket twice. Once in the shower and the other time in the tropical jungle in Malaysia. It was perfect. not a drop of rain and I didn't get the hot feeling due to the breathability. | |

| North Face website says this garment is waterproof. HA! That's a joke: it's barely water resistant. Sent it back to TNF. Got a response that jacket was okay, but that I shouldn't expect it to perform like a GoreTex garment. No kidding. One rain-storm for one hour. Completely soaked. Garment IS NOT anywhere near waterproof. False advertising at its worse. | |
