A great windchill-inhibiting fleece for everyday wear The North Face Men's Windwall 1 Fleece Jacket blocks wind but remains breathable, making it ideal for outdoor training in cold, windy weather. Windwall is a TNF proprietary wind-resistant fleece that blocks over 90% of the wind and allows enough air permeability to vent during exercise - so you don't overheat. This soft and warm layer is the jacket to have for winter aerobic adventures. Delivering athletic warmth in cold weather, and excellent insulation when layered, there's no wonder why this is a favorite fleece among athletes in windy, cold conditions. WindWall fabric is a proprietary wind-resistant fleece from The North Face. WindWall utilizes a unique fabric-bonding process that allows a limited degree of external air permeability (approximately 20 CFM), thereby drastically reducing the effects of wind chill and enhancing the user's warmth and comfort. WindWall 1 fabric has a mesh liner.

The Windwall 1 Jacket by The North Face is a windproof fleece jacket that can ward off the the windchill factor and keep you warm and comfy in the worst of weather. Many fleece jackets are great for sub layers, but the Windwall 1 is different because it is incredible effective when worn as an outer layer to protect you from heat zapping winds. The fleece used for the jacket is a Windwall polyester fleece that limits air permeability and increases your warmth as you go about your outdoor activities.
The North Face Men's Windwall 1 Fleece Jacket expands the boundary of traditional wind-blocking jackets to offer greatly increased breathability, mobility, and comfort. Instead of using a clammy laminate to make the Windwall 1 Fleece Jacket windproof, The North Face integrated a mesh lining that lets in just a touch of air and keeps you from wallowing in your own sweat whenever you get a little warm. This midweight fleece makes an ideal outer layer in windy-but-not-too-wet weather, and it also gets the job done when you need a little extra insulation under your rain shell.

Soft, warm fleece combined with WindStopper technology, the Windwall 1 provides excellent wind protection but is breathable and built for athletic movement and stands up to hard use.

Every thing I want in a jacket.
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I love this jacket. I bought mine about a year ago and wear it almost every day. It has taken care of me on the ski slopes in freezing temps, and been on long over night weekend showshoeing trips in the back country. I am also able to wear it around town because it looks good too. It is great because when I work hard and get damp it breaths really well, and dries fast, so when I stop I am not freezing. The fleece does ball up after a lot of wear, and I have worn the liner down a bit on the inside, but it is nothing more then normal wear. In extreme cold and wind you do need a shell to hold that extra warmth in and keep the wind out. I like this coat so much that I convinced 3 of my friends to buy it as well, and they all feel the same way as I do. | |

Bought this jacket for my dad last christmas and he wears it EVERYWHERE. Since he works construction, he was looking for a lightweight jacket that wouldn't get too hot inside his machine, but blocked some gusts when he got out of it and temps are in the 30-40 range. This jacket was the answer and it has definitely shot me to the "favorite" position ahead of my other siblings. He also uses it when he goes snowshoeing while the mom and bro are out on the ski hill because it does breathe quite well. The material is definitely thin, but it is very soft and functions as a great mid-layer/aerobic activity outer layer. I'll probably buy one for myself too... BTW, Dad is 5'9" 155 and a medium fit great. Very true to size.

| I like the fit, I am 6ft, 175lbs and it fits me good, too bulky like other brands. I own some Columbia and other brand fleeces and this is the one that I find to fit the best, it's my favorite one that I own. I think this is the fleece that the other companies base there fleece jackets after. Alot of other brands seem really big and this one fits the best for me. It works good for adding base layers without looking like you gained 50 pounds. I will mainly use this for casual wear and for hiking/camping. I am very happy with the quality and I look to buy another one in a different color, especially since Moosejaw has the best prices on them! | |

| The North Face's Men's Windwall 1 - This jacket is true to size, and has quality construction. It's amazing how light this jacket is, and how warm it keeps you by blocking out the wind. In Central New York, the wind howls, and I wouldn't be caught without this jacket. Also, this jacket is thin and breathes. This makes it wonderful for layering during the colder months. During the fall and spring it's fine by itself, because it's not bulky at all. I was so impressed with this jacket, that I purchased two of them. Zappos carries a great selection of the North Face products, which are well worth the money. With Zappos, no one has to shop anywhere else, the customer's happiness is their goal. | |

bittersweet | |

I love how the jacket feels and looks. the bittersweet brown color is, indeed, the color of bittersweet cocoa powder. i'm 5'7", stocky, 33 waist, 42" chest, and the size large fits comfortably loose. a medium would have been a good size too (tried one on), but with much less room throughout the shoulders and chest. i like the extra room so i can wear a hoodie or what not underneath. the jacket is very soft and very light weight. does block all of the wind, but not all of the cold - so, it's great for layering.

"Suprisingly Good for what it's worth"

| I picked this piece up as a good basic windproof fleece jacket to throw on when walking the dog. The NF windwall laminate is pretty good, I'd say about as windproof as Polartec powershield used by more expensive jackets, albeit less breathable than powershield. It will let in about 20% of windchill, so it's not Gore Windstopper performance, but for the money it is very good. Loose fit, 5'10 155lbs, and the medium is big enough to accommodate several laters. One note is that this was designed for layering over fleece midlayer, the inside is lined with grid pattern smooth fabric preventing snag. Windwall2 is the warmer version with fleece on both inside and out. | |

Well Made but Slimmer Fitting
| Rating: | ![]() |
| This is a typically good, well made jacket one expects from the folks at The North Face. I appreciate the "true sizing" which means I can wear a medium in all their products. Sleeve length was perfect: about 34". In the last year or two mens clothing designers have gone back to a more trim fit for shirts and jackets. The North Face seems to be following the trend. This jacket is fairly trim through the torso; it certainly is not form-fitting but don't plan to wear anything underneath other than a turtleneck or lightweight shirt. This was my second purchase from Altrec and I've been very satisfied with both experiences. | |

Sleeve Inseams | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| You cannot wear this jacket with a short sleeve shirt. Within 5 minutes the inseams on the sleaves will have rubbed your skin raw. This jacket must be worn with a long sleeve under layer. They obviously did not test this jacket very well. | |

| It feels uncomfortable on my arms when I layer a short-sleeve under it. Otherwise, it's a good jacket; the orange color I ordered looks great. | |

Poor Fit | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I'm 5'11", 175 lbs. The jacket is not a trim fit. It's literally almost as wide as it is long. Not sure what function that serves; perhaps a good jacket for my pregnant girlfriend. Imagine the dimensions of a plastic leaf bag. | |

elastic cuffs | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| Elastic cuffs, I can't stand'em. Give me an open or cinch cuff. The Windwall fabric is like a funky, heavier gauge, short knap felt; not fleece. I liked the jacket and would have kept it if not for the cuffs.... | |
