A great windchill-inhibiting fleece for everyday wear The North Face Women's Windwall 1 Fleece Jacket blocks wind but remains breathable, making it ideal for outdoor training in cold, windy weather. Windwall is a TNF proprietary wind-resistant fleece that blocks over 90% of the wind and allows enough air permeability to vent during exercise - so you don't overheat. This soft and warm layer is the jacket to have for winter aerobic adventures. Re-worked from 2007, this jacket is better than ever. WindWall fabric is a proprietary wind-resistant fleece from The North Face. WindWall utilizes a unique fabric-bonding process that allows a limited degree of external air permeability (approximately 20 CFM), thereby drastically reducing the effects of wind chill and enhancing the user's warmth and comfort. WindWall 1 fabric has a mesh liner.

Reasons I love my Northface Windwall.
| Rating: | ![]() |
| 1. Brutal devastator of wind. Very nice when your tent is from Target and does nothing to stop the wind. 2. Versatile in temperature. By itself, it can handle down to 55 degrees with a t-shirt and some shorts. 50 with a t-shirt and some pants. Add a long sleeve to your t-shirt and pants and you're down to 45. Add a thermal and you're down to 40. With a hoodie, 30 is doable. IMAGINE THE POSSIBILITIES! 3. Comfy. Great fit and good material make it nice to run, jump, climb or sleep in. Very useful when your sleeping bag is meant for temperatures 20 degrees higher than it actually is. Also nice to use for a pillow when it's not so cold. 4. Breathable. Take it on a cycling trip down the coast of California, and though you might sweat a bucket, you'll only feel like you sweat a small cup. Take it caving in damp lava tubes, and you'll barely feel the sweat and dew. Wind plus the breath-ability won't make you cold either. 5. Giant pockets. The pockets go up to your chest making it great for your camera, Cliff bar, wallet, phone, knife and keys, or 6 beers. Whatever you need really. 6. Durable (so far). It's only been a year since I've had this jacket, but it's worn all during the cold season and through many adventures (including most recently, crawling through caves that stab you and your jacket). Still feels as warm and good as new. 7. Rain resistant. Trinity-Shasta was pouring on our first night camping, and running back and forth from camp and the car still didn't stop the Windwall from drying up completely only an hour later | |

Great, Durable Jacket | |

| I love this jacket. I just ordered my second windwall - but took the smart route with black this time around. I bought a white one a year and a half ago, and while I love the jacket, it gets dirty fast and started to pill on me in the past couple of months. I wear the jacket everywhere, it's great. It's comfortable, light, and truly does stop wind from getting it. However it does not stop the cold, so I wear a sweater or fleece underneath it and that works fine. The only thing I would complain about on this jacket is that there are only 2 pockets. My husband is on his 2nd Men's Windwall and they always have an extra pocket for the men, why not the women? And I'd go for the Windwall 2, but I don't want a permanent hood on my jacket. I highly recommend this jacket though - other than just the two pockets - it's awesome for anything and everything. | |

I am really enjoying my windwall jacket from North Face. It is very cozy and takes the bite out of the wind. I'd love to have pants made out of the same material and just cozy up for a nap.

I really love this jacket. It fit perfectly, I was a little concerned that the XS might not fit my 5'2" 115lb frame in the chest because I am more busty, but it worked out well. I live in downtown Chicago and as you can imagine, it gets really windy so I needed a jacket that would be casual and functional. This Northface totally fit the bill. It's warm but vents really well so you don't really sweat in it. I would recommend it to someone in a heart beart.

this jacket is great. I took it on a backpacking trip the first time that I used it and not only was it lightweight, it was effective in blocking wind and keeping me warm during the cooler early morning and early evening hikes. I think that it blocks wind better than retaining warmth, but if you pack along a great warmth layer, you should be fine.

Loved it so much - I got another

| I got my girlfriend one of these with a snowboard jacket for X-mas and she absolutely loved it. I was attracted to the durability and comfort people in forums had described- and she always says she is chilly, so a warm fleece was necessary with the jacket. I have to say I was blown away at how nice it is, her sister has one she had borrowed before - find out it is a couple years old, but still looks great (no pilling and has cleaned well). I liked hers so much, I went and bought myself one and am thinking of getting another, best fleece I've ever owned -period. | |

Devastated when I thought it was lost

| I use this for backpacking, hiking, and running around town. It's perfect for a single layer in cool weather and indispensable in windy weather - it really does cut the wind. It won’t suffice for really cold temps (below about 40, depending on how cold-natured you are) but for cool or windy days, it’s perfect. It washes nicely. I have a white one, and it gets filthy in the backcountry, but I've never had the ground-in dirt NOT wash out. No pilling, either. I've never worn it in a downpour, so I won’t say it's completely waterproof (I highly doubt it) but it repels light rain & snow well. | |

| We had just got a few inches of snow this week and it the wind was pretty fierce. I was running some errands and was pretty chilly. I ran in the house to change into something warmer. This was the first time I put on my new fleece. I instantly got warmer and did not feel the wind hit me like it did before. What a great jacket. Will buy another one. I like it becasue its not as bulky as a Denali but really cuts the wind. You just might want to layer something under it or put a vest over it. Must Buy!! | |

Perfect for my bike! | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
I have a really hard time finding warm jackets that I can bike in that don't bunch up and create drafts. This jacket is wonderful: it has a cinch cord at the bottom, no extra bulk, and the sleeves are long enough. I'm super tall and slender, and I got a large. There's room to layer if I so choose, and the large is longer through the hips than the medium. My two sisters and I all have this jacket in different colors and we each love it. Highly recommended for riding/biking to class in the bitter winter winds.

Nice jacket, wrong color (aka DON'T BUY BLUE)!
| Rating: | ![]() |
| I actually only kept my jacket for about 15 minutes because Altrec sent me the wrong color (even after I had called them confirming that they would ship me the bliss blue with the grey collar, as shown in the picture, not the newer style). So needless to say, I was a bit disappointed when I received the wrong one. Apparently "we must have sold out" (between the 5 minutes it took to call and confirm, and click "add to basket"). So don't trust the pictures. I did try the jacket on though, and it was nice (why I rated it a 3, instead of 1 for incorrect product). My advice: Get the jacket, but double-check that you're receiving the right color (esp. if it's a gift). Or check out other sites; there's plenty of places that offer quality service as well as good prices. Happy trekking! | |

Returned it | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
I was expecting a warmer-feeling fabric and softer jacket than this. I guess because of the coating that makes it windproof. I returned it as soon as I got it. Runs a size small. I am 5'3" and 140-145lbs and everyone told me to get the medium, and i think it was too tight. If I had anything thicker than a thin t-shirt on, it would have been cramped in there. I returned this for a large North Face Osito Jacket in Knight purple. Love it. That is very soft to the touch and warm. It's like wearing a blanket.

weirdness with the neck
| Rating: | ![]() |
I like this jacket, wind-stopping ability is good. The main issue I have with this jacket is the neck. Basically, the neck is too tall. It is kind of loose, but the zipper at the top is stiff enough that it holds the neck up, so that it is constantly poking me in the chin. The zipper is also a little difficult to operate at the top. I will try wearing this a few more times to see if I continue to be annoyed by this.

good for bicycle riding
| Rating: | ![]() |
I wore my new jacket while riding my bicycle in cool (58 F), damp, cloudy, windy weather. I found its wind-blocking feature very good, breathe-ability OK, and warmth just right. It's a little short for my taste and the trim fit makes it a poor choice for layering over anything heavier than a T-shirt, without sizing up.

Too big | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
I'm 5'1" and about 90lbs - this jacket was really an odd fit. The sleeves were way too long - past my fingertips, yet the jacket seemed to come up shorter than most like it - I'm pretty short too. Someone that's taller might find this jacket really short. I had to return it.

I really liked the material, but the torso is too short (and I'm 5'3")... Had the jacket been a few inches longer, I would've loved it.
