Great Warm, Sturdy Vest!
| Rating: | ![]() |
I purchased the Moonlight Ivory, size Medium. I love that it's windproof and it's also quite warm, even wearing a long-sleeved thermal shirt underneath indoors. I could wear a size Small, but it was too tight across the chest so the Medium is a little roomy. The sides cinch so I can get a more tailored look. I went to my local sports store and was looking at TNF Mossbud fleece vest and the Isis Sultana vest before I chose TNF Windwall (online prices here were cheaper than local stores, plus I had a 20% off coupon). The Mossbud was strictly a fleece vest and I didn't think it would provide enough warmth, but the fleece was so soft and the cut was very flattering to women's figures. The Sultana had a cool quilted pattern, but was short and I really didn't like that the top did not fold down (underneath my chin), even when unzipped. I like the option of zipping up past my chin, but not if I wear the vest casual. I think that the Windwall is plenty long enough for me. No worries about that. That's how I chose the Windwall. Warm, sturdy, side cinches, windproof, nice outdoorsy look. I'll have to write more later about the white color and see if I agree with 8/20/08 reviewer about the dirt.

A must have item for runners
| Rating: | ![]() |
Let's just say straight away that I have never purchased any item from North Face. I don't like the giant logos they put on the front and back at all and I don't buy into trendy logos. I wasn't happy about the price point of this vest either, but decided to invest in it because I wanted a well made warm vest for layering while running that would hopefully last me a lifetime. Well, I have now worn this vest many times this fall running outside and it keeps me incredibly toasty warm! It really does a fantastic job blocking out the wind too. In fact, I like it so much I have worn it around the house to help combat the indoor cold while I crank down the heat to save some money here in Chicago. Bottom line - I'm wearing it like crazy!. The fit was perfect (thanks to a good sizing chart), it's sooo comfortable and it's toasty warm. I'm in love!

Great layer or spring/fall
| Rating: | ![]() |
I have had this vest since 12/07. I live in Colroado and have worn it many times as as a layer (downhill skiing) as well as this spring as a stand-alone vest over my clothes (hiking, biking, around town). It is amazing at blocking the wind and is breathable; I've only ever been too warm with it indoors and once when it was warm out anyways in bright sun with no wind. It is a bit short (I'm 5'7 and purchased a L), but it is cut with a woman's upper body figure in mind and is very comfortable and roomy otherwise. I would definitely buy again! The only thing I don't like about this vest is that it is a dirt magnet (white color fleece) and I have to wash it quite often, although it does seem to be holding up well to the washings.

so happy I made the purchase

| So far I've only been able to wear this vest in temps as low as 25/30 with only a fleece pullover underneath and it has kept me warm! I have 2 little ones and having to haul them and blankets I didn't want the bulk of my winter coat added and this vest has done what I was hoping it would- keep me warm w/o the bulk. I love that it fits close to the body w/o feeling tight too! | |

The fit is great, the cut is flattering and I love the way the back is slightly longer than the front.

Perfect Vest! | |

| I use this to tack my horses and while riding. It is a perfect fit and has enough warmth to ware on a cool day. It stays close to my body so I don't have to worry about getting it caught on anything which is a concern while riding. I am on my second one because I need another one to add to my closet. Very Breathable and light, but warm! It's Great! | |

| This vest is wonderful! I wear a size 10-12, and the Large fit beautifully. Fabric is soft, but warm. Construction is of good quality. This vest looks great with jeans and boots; perfect for late Fall and Winter in the South. I don't usually purchase this brand (thought it was too trendy, more for young adults, etc.), but after trying it on, was convinced. I will definitely purchase more North Face products. | |

| My teenaged daughter uses this for horseback riding. The fitted sleek style allows for layering. Worn alone it gives her freedom of movement for jumping, while still keeping her warm and dry. She loves this vest and often wears it all day at school as well, where it keeps out the drafts, without looking bulky or campy. Worth every penny. | |

Nice but stiff | |

Liked it but it was a little stiff - not as soft and cozy as other vests I tried. I was specifically looking for a cream colored vest and ended up going with the Patagonia, but this was a close second. I may order it in green!

| Love! Perfect for early fall with a turtleneck. Add a North Face Denali when the temperature drops! Oh! Did I mention I ordered late Wednesday & UPS was at the door Thursday at 10:15 a.m.! Zappos is amazing! | |

disappointed | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
I was replacing a North Face Windwall fleece black vest that I have had for a few years when I bought this one. I loved the first one, but it was getting a little worn looking so I ordered this one. I have two problems with this newer version: (1). it is shorter than the older version and I liked the prior length so that was a bit disappointing. (2) But the big problem is the dye from this vest transferrd to two different light colored shirts. I didn't realize it was happening until I did laundry. The black stain on a powder blue long sleeve cord shirt was bad and it will not come out even with spot removers. So, maybe I just got a bad vest, or maybe they are all like this? I'll check the reviews for the next few weeks and see.

Perfect if not so short | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
I'm 5'4" - petite. The Small is a bit too roomy under the arms and in the chest (I'm a B cup). The XS is perfect in every way EXCEPT it could use another 1" of fabric in the front. I can't believe how short the length is. I have another style NF vest and it does not have this problem. I don't understand the whole point of a windwall vest if the wind can sail right in under the front.

Nice, but too short | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
The vest was extremely sturdy and thick, just what I wanted, but the torso was EXTREMELY short! I already have a short torso, as evidenced by most of my clothes falling much lower than I'd like. But this vest was too short, even for me. What good is a windwall when the wind can just come up from the bottom?
