For those who want to feel pampered by their camping gear, the redesigned Thermarest BaseCamp Regular sleeping pad is the answer. Two inches (a quarter inch thicker than the previous version) of comfy open cell foam provide insulation and comfortable separation from river rocks, cold dirt, or a hard floor. The self-inflating Thermarest BaseCamp Regular sleeping pad is five inches shorter and narrower than the BaseCamp Large sleeping pad, a good option for smaller framed campers, those who rarely toss and turn in their sleep, or those who would like to save a few dollars instead of experiencing the expanded size of the large model. Additionally, some backpacking enthusiasts choose to carry the Thermarest BaseCamp Regular sleeping pad into the backcountry, figuring the extra weight is a worthy trade-off for a good night's sleep.
The Therm-a-Rest BaseCamp sleeping pad packs maximum comfort and warmth into a super affordable car-camping mattress. When you never carry your mattress more than the distance from your car to the tent, there's no reason to worry about weight—and every reason to make your base camp or car camping trip as comfortable as possible. With a full two-inch thick layer of solid-foam core, the BaseCamp provides superior warmth and comfort.

Therm-a-Rest's BaseCamp mattress offer incomparable softness and warmth, making outdoor experiences more comfortable than ever. Family campers, car campers, and base campers all pick these mattresses when waking up refreshed is priority one.
When home-sweet-home is the back of the car, you can count on Therm-a-Rest's Base Camp sleeping pad to serve up consecutive nights of sleeping comfort. This all-purpose mattress offers 2-inches of foam cushioning for sleep-time comfort and insulation from the often times cold ground.

This terrific, all-purpose, self-inflating camp mattress provides excellent comfort--now with more thickness!

Comfy Feet and Head! | |
| Rating: | ![]() |
| Wonderful!! Since I'm medium-tall and on the heavy side, I bought this instead of the Trail Lite Women's to give me enough length and a little extra cushion. There's nothing I hate more than having my feet or head hang off onto the cold, hard ground, or feeling the hard ground under me! The length was ample, and I slept better since I didn't worry about parts of me hanging off the ends. I and my down bag stayed warm, dry and comfortable all night despite the fact that the tent leaked badly and the only dry spot was on top of my mattress! Related to this, the muddy dog also slept partially on my mattress, and the dirty paw-prints washed right off. While this mattress is slightly larger and 3/4 pound heavier than the Trail Lite, I felt that the added length and thickness were worth what they added to my load. Honestly, I'd rather go without clean clothes than be uncomfortable at night! | |

Sleep in Comfort | |

| Although the Thermarest Basecamp Regular sleeping pad is marketed for car camping,I've found that it works great for wilderness travel too. Yes it's a bit heavier than other models from Thermarest but the 2 inches of thickness make a big difference in my sleeping comfort. I want to make sure I get quality rest at night so I'm willing to carry some extra ounces and it's less expensive than Thermarest's TrailPro model. I gave this product 4 stars instead of 5 just because one has to be a little bit careful to make sure it doesn't puncture. I'm not trying to say that they're delicate. I've had Thermarest pads last for many years. But on the other hand I've had a pad leak after a cat walked over it. Thermarest does make another model that has an extra tough exterior but it's too expensive for me. Now I just make sure my cat doesn't get near my regular exterior pad. | |

| This pad is absolutely fabulous. It's incredibly warm (check the r-value in the specs page), but is actually reasonably light. I have packed it on several short trips easily, and while not a minimalist, I'm small and don't like to carry much. It's easy to strap it to the outside of the pack, and worth it. I sleep like a baby on this thing by puffing it up with a few extra breaths and then, actually, letting a tiny bit out. Just the right amount of give remains. I use it with the Big Agnes Rox Anne, which has a sleeve for an insulated pad. The bag leaves off the bottom insulation in favor of the pad, which makes up for a bit of weight. Together with a Pacific Outdoor Equipment blow-up pillow, it's the best system in the universe. | |

I sleep on this every night

| No joke - my husband and I sleep on these every night and have for the past 7 years. We have a queen-size platform frame, and we just plopped these mattresses on there. Side-by-side, they make for a perfect queen bed (platform frame recommended), and we can each adjust our own side to our comfort. Sheets fit like a dream. I realize this wouldn't work for everybody, but it's perfect for us, it's a LOT cheaper than a mattress / spring set, and it doesn't absorb all of the icky gross stuff that mattresses do. Sleep well! | |

Great nights Sleep. | |

I got this for my wife last year and she loves it. I also used it once for a winter trip and felt the difference on the frozen ground. I always had the Therm-a-Rest ridge rest because of the light weight. But I used this pad on my last hike this summer, and I must admit for just a little extra weight you get a better nights sleep. I think it's time for my old bones to use a blow-up pad. Also, I really love the way it self inflates, very cool.

Got this for the girlfriend for our first camping trip together. Worked great. She slept like a log every night. The little amount of extra weight is totally worth it. Plus its amazing how well it self inflates. My therm is only 2 years old and I have to blow it up a fair amount, this one you let it sit for 15 minutes and in two puffs its perfect. One last thing the extra thickness lets you run it at a low psi and not feel any rocks. Get it!

I got the large and I love it, except when I'm backpacking. My fault, I should gotten a smaller one.

Awesome pad! | |

I love this pad, I bought the XL, because I'm a larger guy, and it works perfectly with my marmot trestles X-Wide bag. Easily the most comfortable pad I've ever used, probably not for backpacking, but I would consider it because I was so comfortable. I slept on rock, and had no shoulder or hip discomfort when I woke up. Easily more comfortable than probably three out of the last four real mattresses I've had.

Great for the big man.. | |

X-Large suited me well. I'm 6-4, 240 lbs. I thought it very impressive that something with little depth would insulate me so well from the cold ground. Further, I'm a side sleeper so the hard ground has always made for a difficult nights sleep. But I had no issues on the cold nights, sleeping well on my side without any realization that the cold hard ground was less than a couple of inches away.
