A little lightweight luxury

Rating:****
Simply, I love this pillow.
I like to keep my pack weight to a minimum as I'm only a lightweight myself but sometimes comfort takes a priority. At 7.2oz (204g) I've often found it a little difficult to justify taking this along but every time I'm glad to have it and often score jealous glares from others which make it all the more worthwhile.

I don't move much in my sleep so the small size is great for me, I actually wouldn't mind if it were smaller still but make sure you try it first; have a lie down in store and make sure you're getting the right size. Half the complaints I've read about these pillows are from people who purchased the wrong size and blame the pillow for the mistake.

My only critical comment is that perhaps some weight could have been saved by using a lighter weight outer material. The super smooth textured side is luxurious but I think it could be dispensed with.

Bottom line, it's worth the weight, helps me keep that little bit warmer in cold weather an absolutely beats a press stud in the jaw at 3am when your rolled up pants fight back.

Worth considering if...

Rating:****
For the same reasons that some of these people were turned off by this particular size...it may fit the bill perfectly for others. In addition to the small, I have a medium pillow as well. They both pack pretty small...so why would you want a smaller pillow?

Camping in the winter. I quickly found that a large pillow was awful when you try to cinch up a mummy bag and tighten the draft collar. The smaller size of this pillow is perfect for having some head cushion but still keeping your head all the way in the sleeping bag. However, I will echo that if you don't "fluff" the pillow before you use it it's not going to have it's maximum amount of loft. I've spent 5 nights or so backpacking at or around 0 degrees and haven't been cold or uncomfortable because of this little guy.

Awesome travel pillow

Rating:*****
This pillow saved me during my 2-month field work, when the pillows in almost all the places I stayed were hard and/or too thick. The soft material of this pillow was so comforting, it puts me straight to sleep. I owed my sanity to this pillow. Since then, I always bring it during my travels. It's especially useful on planes, because the pillows they provide are usually of dubious quality, and I always need an extra pillow for my back anyway.

I don't bring this during backpacking because it's rather bulky inside my sleeping bag (which already has a small pillow built in). But it's still bouncy and the materials survived wonderfully after 3 years. I bought the large size, which proved to be less useful because it was large even when compressed.

Packable, Light, Rather Comfy too

Rating:****
I just had this for a two-day jaunt into Mammoth Cave NP. I thought it was great, overall. It squishes down to the size of a small cylinder, and weighs practically nothing. However, it was fairly comfy to sleep on. It did deflate, or rather move the air to the non-head side, but bunching it up solved most of that. I slept great on it for the nights on the trail. And it also worked fabulously on the 6-hour ride down to the site. I'll be taking it next time I'm on a plane for sure. It is lumpy at times, and if you have a big head or desire a lot of pillow comfort, it's not for you. But compared to using your jeans as a pillow, it's terrific.

Compactable yet fluffy with firmness.

Rating:*****
In the store I could see the pillow could compact down nicely but would it fluff properly, maintain a fluffy shape, and could I wash it? The answer to all my questions was "Yes". I've used this pillow camping, in the car, while hostelling in Europe, and even in my bed at home. It really is a nice little pillow and it fluffs and maintains its shape nicely thereby providing support. That it's washable and durable mean I can use it regularly and for a long time. Over the course of a year I've only had one small complaint and that is the cord has frayed a little due to excessive use. If ever it wears through I'll simply replace it ... no big deal. This pillow is recommended.

Compact comfort

Rating:*****
A perfect small, compact pillow that offers comfort that rivals my pillow on my bed.

If you like a pillow that is low but still supportive enough that you don't feel like your head is resting on the ground then this is the pillow for you.

I took this with me on a 5-Day rafting trip on the North Fork of the Flathead river in Montana. It folds up small enough that it fit easily in my medium compression dry bag. Upon removal it fluffs to full size within a few seconds.

I've washed it twice so far, and shows no signs of use. Could be the last camp pillow I need to buy for a while.

Great pillow!

Rating:*****
This is a great pillow. I used to use either a stuff sack with some clothes in it or my rolled up fleece jacket under my head but those always ended up being uncomfortable so it's definitely worth it to carry this pillow with me. If you unpack it as soon as you make camp and shake it out a little, it'll be more than fluffy enough by the time you're going to bed. Can also be machine washed and dried, which is great. You'll see how much it can really expand after taking it out of the dryer.

Negative Reviews:

Not worth it

Rating:**
The same compressible characteristics that allows this pillow to pack small, also means it compresses when you put your head on it at night. It didn't do the trick for me.

Maybe it needs an air valve, so it will self inflate, and not deflate.

Decent Travel Pillow

Rating:***
This product was first purchased for a 3 week European backpacking trip. It definitely came in handy. The main tradeoff was the small size vs. head support. The medium sized pillow offered a lot better head support, but was too bulky for the trip. For more casual camping, I would prefer the medium size, but for compact cruising, the small is ideal. Also, it can "deflate" after repeated use, but throw it in the washer/dryer, and it comes out nice and fluffy!

So so

Rating:***
This pillow would be great for back packing when you're really concerned about weight, but its not very fluffy so I'm not sure if it was worth it for car camping. However, you can wash it, which makes it much better than taking a real pillow and getting it all smelly!
