Therm-A-Rest Dream Time Sleeping Pad

These sleeping pads work excellent. I used them for the first time last week. The pads worked excellent at different temps. Our temperatures ranged from 30 degrees to 60 degrees. Each pad has ties or straps on the side of the pad in order to secure them together for a queen sized pad. It also has 2 vents for allowing air in and out. The only disadvantage is that it's so big when rolled up 10"X32", but if you're car camping it's no big thing. I never touched the ground when sleeping on it. Overall outstanding.

Make your own!

I designed my own "Dreamtime" Pad...Here is how. For the past 5 years I've used an inexpensive egg crate foamy, cut down to just larger than my regular 'ol MUCH less expensive Thermarest (which doesn't by itself provide enough comfort anymore for me as a 50 yr old!) Stick the egg crate foamy under the Thermarest, a twin fitted sheet over the Thermarest if you want or a twin flat over both if you want and then presto...DREAMTIME on the cheap! You can use the Thermarest stuff sack that comes free with the less expensive model (at least it did years ago when I bought mine!) for the Thermarest mattress then...and two large plastic garbage bags for the foamy part with a piece of twine for transport. We long term campers have developed our own methods for creating comfort without the high price as we age!

Excellent mattress

I have the smallest/lightest thermarest for backpacking and I got this one for car camping and it is wonderful.

Dream time is a BIG disappointment

This is what you get for $200. 1) A Base Camp Thermarest quality pad, worth $90. 2) A 2 inch layer of removable foam, worth $5 3) Both of these items enclosed in a cover that has a zipper with fleece on the top side and a non-slip bottom. Thank goodness the item was returnable.

The Therm-a-Rest Dream Time Sleeping Pad is a great pad if you plan on doing any car camping or when weight/size isn't an issue. The comfort is hard to beat. In fact, my boyfriend's parents recently stayed with us and were very disconcerted to see that we were making them sleep on two of these babies strapped together. They wanted us to go to Wal-Mart to get them an air mattress...but we urged them to give it a try. After one night, they were convinced! That's how comfortable these are! They spent an entire week on them. They're super durable, too.

Great item

I use this pad in addition to a 1-inch thick pad inside a camping trailer I pull behind my motorcycle. It's really great. I like that it has a soft covering, and a foam pad in addition to the air bladder. They were even out of stock, and let me know that they would be a couple of months, but honored the sale price - a raincheck I guess - and that was awesome. This is a reliable and honorable internet business.

So Comfortable!

This pad rocks! It is so big and comfortable. The 3 layers work well. When the ground is cold this pad keeps you well insulated. I just wish that I could take this thing backpacking!

Very Comfortable...and...a bit pricey!

I usually bring a 4 inch foam pad and a futon with me on car camping trips. Since this was too much to include in my luggage on Southwest airlines, I ordered a Thermarest Dream Time pad, which I was able to squeeze into a duffle bag along with my tent. I used the Dream Time pad every night for a week on this trip. It was every bit as comfortable as the foam pad / futon combination that I usually sleep on. My only complaint is that a stuff sack was not included in the still expensive sales price of $169. It seems rather greedy to charge an additional fee for a stuff sack! Other than the price issue, the service from BackCountry.com was superb.

Great pad, but it is not very portable

I live in a studio apartment and needed a pad for my sofa bed, which was just killing my back. I bought this pad because it appeared comfortable with a 3" thickness and its advertised storage space is fairly tiny. OK, this pad is very comfortable and it has the added benefit of adjustability via super-easy inflatability. The down side is that once this memory-foam pad escapes its mini-container, it can never be re-rolled as small for daily use. Why? Memory foam flattens and takes quite a while for it to puff out. Right now, the width of my rolled pad is about 2.5 feet, which is a lot bigger than the 10" I expected. If you need to solve a bad back issue, this is the pad for you. If storage is an issue, skip it.

Total Comfort!

This pad is the cat's meow! It is maximum comfort. You may adjust the air level to your preference; the layer of foam adds warmth and just enough padding. It's great for car camping. The only drawback: it is very difficult to put in a stuff sack--I gave up and use the Big Agnes Road Bag.
