Awesome for repairing ALL fabric gear | |

| It's very easy. The best stuff for repairing nylon is a Thermarest patch kit. The method is super cool, 100% effective, water and airtight, works on even wet fabric, and low tech. The kits consist of nylon patches in a variety of shapes, sizes and colors, and a packet of thermal adhesive similar to boil-in-bag food. Boil 1 quart of water (or 1 liter if you're repairing French gear), with the packet of adhesive in the water. After it gets to boiling temp, take out the packet and spread on both the patch and the ripped fabric (the even include the Popsicle stick spreader). Cover with the plastic bag the kit is contained in, and set the pan of hot water on the top. 10 minutes later, it's airtight. It's cheap, effective and truly brilliant. And since the glue has no solvents, and is basically frozen (i. e. below its melting point) the unused adhesive last virtually forever, and it's environmentally way more friendly... no volatile organic compounds evaporating into the atmosphere. I always carry one with me when camping, and it's saved my trip many times. They're cheap and lightweight, available at any gear store that carries Thermarest mattresses. Plus the round patches are in kinda cool muted colors, and actually look good on outdoors gear, like you're an experienced outdoorsy person that uses their gear enough to require a bit of repair. Which you are. | |

Hard working patch kit | |

| The patches work well and seem to hold up to years of abuse. It does take fair amount of prep and work to affix the patches, which is a bummer when you want to get on with a trip, but it could be useful for longer trips where more then a few nights using a deflated mattress starts to cramp your style. I have used mine many times back at base camp to the point people think I have a polka-dotted pad, so thumbs up to keeping my pad running throughout the years of torture I've put it through! | |

Good Product! | |

| Pros: It really works; it fixes punctures, and the punctures stay fixed. Reasonably easy to use. Plenty of patching material. Can be used in the field with materials that you would normally have with you (stove, pot, water bottle, etc.). Fairly quick repairs (although maybe not 10 minutes). Cons: Not enough HotBond. They only include three (3) packets of HotBond. Each repair uses at least one packet of HotBond. That's a fairly limited amount. There's enough patching material for dozens of repairs but only enough HotBond for a maximum of three repairs. | |

| I have never used this on my thermarest, but both of my wife's has been plagued with holes. We have repaired her pads 4 times. The patches work great, and are easy to use on the trail. | |

ok for low elevations | |

| Patches are good, but boiling water does not adequately heat adhesive at over 10,000 ft. so packaged glue does not work there. Shoe Goo (R) with the supplied patches does. | |
